Dropping the nap doesn’t have to happen overnight 😴

When your toddler starts transitioning from one nap to no nap, it doesn’t need to be all or nothing.

Some days they might happily skip it. Other days; after daycare, an early morning or a particularly busy day... they might still really need that sleep.

The key? If you do offer a nap, try not to let it happen too late in the afternoon, otherwise bedtime (and overnight sleep 👀) can take a hit.

Think of it as a transition, not a hard stop.

Moving from a cot to a big bed is a BIG milestone 🛏️

And I know it can feel a little daunting, especially when you realise your toddler can now... just get out of bed whenever they like 😅

The good news? You don’t need to overcomplicate it.

✨ Prepare them for the change
🛏️ Let them get comfortable with their new bed
🌙 Keep your usual bedtime routine
🤫 Calmly return them to bed when they wander
⭐ Celebrate the wins
🤝 And most importantly, stay consistent

That last one is a biggie.

If there are two parents or multiple caregivers, you really do need to be on the same page. If one person is holding the boundary and the other is letting things slide, your toddler will work that out VERY quickly 😂

Remember, they’re not just learning to sleep in a new bed. They’re learning independence, boundaries and how to settle themselves with a whole lot more freedom.

And there will probably be a few wobbles along the way. That’s okay.

❤️ Consistency is far more important than perfection.

You don’t need the perfect bed.
You don’t need the perfect timing.
You don’t need to get every night right.

You just need a clear plan and the confidence to stick with it.

💬 Comment “TRANSITION” and I’ll send you my blog with all my tips and tricks for making the move from cot to big bed.

And save this one for when the big bed era begins! 🛏️❤️

Want better sleep at your house? 🌙

A predictable bedtime routine can be one of the most powerful tools for helping your toddler know what’s coming next; and winding down for sleep.

My top tips for making it work:

✨ Be consistent. The more familiar the routine becomes, the easier it is for your toddler to know what to expect... even when you’re away from home or someone else is doing bedtime.

✨ Be patient. A new routine is a new skill. Your toddler may need plenty of verbal and physical guidance while they learn.

✨ Celebrate the small wins. Stickers, ticks or another visual way to mark each completed step can help keep them engaged.

✨ Use positive reinforcement. Praise, encouragement and small rewards can go a long way when building a new habit.

And if you’d like to make bedtime even easier…

Want bedtime to feel a little less chaotic? 🌙

For toddlers, predictability can be powerful. Following the same simple steps, in the same order, each night helps them understand what’s coming next and that bedtime is approaching.

Think:
🍽️ Dinner
🛁 Bath
👕 Pyjamas
🪥 Teeth
🚽 Toilet
📖 Book
🤍 Cuddle
😴 Bed

It doesn’t need to happen perfectly every night. The goal is consistency, not perfection.

Over time, those familiar cues can help your toddler feel calm, secure and ready to settle for sleep.

How long should your toddler be napping? 😴

The truth is—it varies more than most parents expect. But there are some helpful guidelines to keep in mind 👇

Around 2 years: typically 1.5–2 hours
Around 2.5 years: closer to 40–60 minutes
By 3–4 years: many children are ready to drop naps altogether

If your toddler is fighting naps, waking overnight, or bedtime is becoming a battle, their daytime sleep might need a tweak.

Comment “NAP” and I’ll send you my full guide with practical tips to make naps easier (and more predictable).

🚸 Moving to a big bed? Here's what every parent should know...

Transitioning your toddler from a cot to a big bed is a big milestone; but it can also bring a few challenges along the way.

The 3 biggest hurdles I see are:
🛏️ Safety – Once they're out of a cot, the whole room becomes accessible. Childproof the room, not just the bed.
😴 Sleep disruption – Expect some bumps in the road. Stick to your bedtime routine and stay consistent, even if sleep temporarily goes off track.
💛 Boundaries – This is often the hardest part. Calm, predictable responses every single time help your child understand the new expectations. Consistency between all caregivers is key.

Remember, every child adjusts at their own pace. A little patience, preparation and consistency can make the transition much smoother.

If your toddler has started climbing out of their cot... don't brush it off as a clever new trick. 🫣

Once they can climb out, it becomes a genuine safety risk, and it's time to make a few changes.

It's important to know:
✔️ How to make the cot safer
✔️ The simple sleep hack that can stop little escape artists
✔️ What to do if they've figured out how to unzip their sleeping bag
✔️ How to encourage them to stay in their cot (without turning bedtime into a battle)

And yes... if they're scaling the cot before they're even 3, they might just have a future in parkour. 😅

💬 Comment "PARKOUR" and I'll send you my complete guide to keeping your toddler safely in their cot for as long as possible, plus everything you need to know about making the transition to a big bed when they're truly ready.
