7 GREATEST CHALLENGES SHAPING YOUNG ADULT MINISTRY TODAY
#7 — Leadership development can’t wait.
What if our goal wasn’t simply to:
Reach sinners.
Raise believers.
Release leaders.
I remember 16 years ago, when I was just getting started in young adult ministry, having a shaping phone call with Todd Crews from Brooklyn Tabernacle’s young adult ministry.
There weren’t podcasts like this one.
There weren’t endless resources, conferences, or online communities for young adult ministry leaders.
But they were seeing thousands of young adults in a faithful, growing ministry.
And one of the things that conversation reinforced for me was this:
Leadership isn’t the byproduct of growth.
Leadership creates sustainable growth.
If we wait until our ministry is big enough to develop leaders, we’ve already waited too long.
Leadership development can’t be the thing we do after we grow.
It has to be part of how we grow.
Because the goal isn’t simply to fill a room.
It’s to see young adults encounter Jesus, become disciples, and eventually become the people who reach, disciple, and lead others.
Reach sinners.
Raise believers.
Release leaders.
That’s how we build something that lasts.

Sometimes all we have is enough light for one next step.

One conversation, a decision, an act of obedience.

And when we take it, God gives us what we need for the next one.

A sound mind isn’t built on knowing everything that comes next.

It’s built by learning to recognize His voice, trust His direction, & Take The Next Step.

🎥 Missed this week’s message? Catch the full message on the Life Church App or our YouTube channel.

The Book of Revelation doesn’t point us to a powerless Jesus. It reveals a reigning King.

This Sunday, we were reminded that Jesus holds the keys. Keys represent access, authority, and ownership. When you don’t have the keys, you’re at the mercy of the one who does.

That’s not bad news for believers. It’s the best news.
Politics don’t hold the keys.
The economy doesn’t hold the keys.
The future doesn’t hold the keys.

Jesus does.

And because He does, we can trust Him with every door He opens and every door He closes.

Most people only see the homecoming photo. They don’t see the years of waiting, the placements that fall through, or the children who come and go before the one who stays. The road to adoption carries a lot of loss before it brings any joy, and the cost alone keeps many families from ever starting.

Easing that cost is the whole reason Omnah exists. Through grants funded by donors, families get help with the price of adoption so they can welcome children into loving, gospel-centered homes. No family should have to say no to a child because of a number, and your giving is part of how God brings these children home.

When you give, you help the next family bring their child home. omnahfoundation.org/give
