Today I am officially 12 years sober

I always try to post something meaningful on my sober anniversaries, and with getting this opportunity coincidentally announcing TODAY to perform on Halloween, a particular story comes to mind from my recovery journey.

The year I got sober, I was in in-patient treatment for Halloween. No costume, no party to get wild at, and for some reason, this hit me like a death sentence - I was never going to have fun ever again. But I didn’t have a choice, I knew from my uncontrollable blackouts from drinking that I could never safely get drunk at a party ever again.

Fast forward 2 years, I’m wearing a blue morph suit with a name tag saying “Eiffel 65 - I’m Blue” as my costume, I had learned how to DJ and was shredding filthy dubstep by Figure and Zomboy at a Halloween event FULL of sober people. I wanted to cry because I had told myself on Halloween that I would never have fun again, but here I was using my talent to help others having the best Halloween of my life.

Now fast-forwarding 10 more years - I get to play the music made possible through my sobriety at an event in my Minneapolis music community, AND I get to rip my forthcoming Halloween release (this is my official soft announcement of that btw 👀) on the @championsoundmpls rig at @familiaskate with @ganjawhitenight @togekidub & @marzannamusic 🔊

My recovery word for this year has been gratitude - mainly because I need to stay reminded that the problems I have today are the problems I dreamed for when I was first getting sober - and with this announcement today, I can confidently say it’s all been worth it and I have A LOT to be grateful for 🙏🏼 Thank you @thetcpresents for having me 🖤

Straight out of the DMV, TOGEKI drops “Wob” this FRIDAY 🔊

In his own words:
“‘Wob’ is kind of an ode to letting loose in the dance. The feeling of skanking around a bit aimlessly with a drink in hand. Not worrying about the people around you or whatever is going on outside of that moment. I wrote this track in preparation for Infrasound which is an event that I think truly immerses people in the music, and I think my inspiration for this track came from the anticipation of that.” -@togekidub

The track has already caught the attention of some big names, with support from Skream, Distinct Motive, Cool Customer, and Speedtek (FKA Ternion Sound).

“Wob” drops FRIDAY. Check out a clip of Wob live at Infrasound in the next slide and be sure to stream it through the link in our bio. 🔗

Togeki had an immaculate renegade set at the RV renegade afters at Seven Stars last weekend (one of the few that actually got to play). Here’s him showing some love to Esseks with Breaking Through during this insane double. Don’t forget we’ve got Esseks himself at Basic City Beer Co. RVA November 20th. Ticket link in bio, will call available as well, just send a dm!
