Its Chicago Good Neighbor Week! ❤️

Across our blocks and neighborhoods, there are plenty of ways to show up for each other. Check in on one another, lend a hand, bring people together, or simply get to know someone nearby. That’s how we build a Chicago where more people feel a sense of belonging.

See how you can get involved: chicagogoodneighborweek.com/

Thank you to everyone doing Community Violence Intervention (CVI) in Chicago. CVI is a network of non-punitive, community-led programs aimed at reducing gun violence by identifying and supporting individuals at the highest risk. On this day we worked with @institutefornonviolencechicago , @westsidehealthauthority , @act.chicago , @togetherchicago , and @buildchicago .

Thank you @healingtheblues and @victoria_brown_rubin for bringing your hearts to the Reiki Brigade.

The mission of the Reiki Brigade is to promote peace within individuals, communities, and society as a whole via Reiki energy healing. We support non-violence efforts by collaborating with other service organizations, and serving groups of individuals who experience high levels of stress. We also strive to raise awareness and availability of the benefits of Reiki throughout the general public and all areas of healthcare.

Contact us if you’d like a presentation and demonstrations for your community or a Corporate Wellness Event for your team.

Like what you see? You can support our work with a donation of any size. Link in bio.

Fear may rise, but God is nearer.
Weakness may come, but His hand still holds you. You are strengthened, helped, and upheld. Stand steady in the strength of God.

Isolation will have you thinking wisdom is the problem.

Proverbs 18:1 says “Whoever isolates himself seeks his own desire; he breaks out against all sound judgment.” Looking back, I realize there was a season where I disconnected from the people God placed in my life. My mom. My pastor. My friends. People speaking truth to me, but none of it made sense because I was isolated.

When you disconnect from the vine, eventually the fruit disappears too.

Love. Joy. Peace. Patience. Kindness. Goodness. Faithfulness. Gentleness. Self-control.

Those things weren’t showing up in my life anymore, and because of that, wisdom sounded offensive instead of helpful.

That’s a dangerous place to be.

Sometimes healing starts with reconnecting instead of withdrawing.

Agape love.

God calls us to love people the same way He loves us.
Unconditionally.

That means I don’t care if you sell drugs or if you’re struggling with addiction… I’m called to love you the same way Christ loves me.

Because the truth is, I’ve made decisions I’m not proud of too.

So who am I to judge someone based on where they are right now?

This is what building authentic relationships looks like.
It starts with how you see people.

This is just a clip.
