📢 We’re getting the word out about a BIG idea: Wisconsin needs more people at the table when it comes to housing!

Spectrum News 1 recently featured our Community Housing Academy, and Montavius Jones shared why bringing people together to learn, connect, and tackle housing challenges matters.

Housing shouldn’t be a game of musical chairs.

When we don’t build enough homes, everyone ends up competing for the same limited number of places to live. And when the music inevitably stops, someone gets left without a chair.

So, what’s the answer? Add more chairs. Build more homes, in more places, at more price points. That way, everyone has a better chance of finding a place to call home. 🏠

Join the movement for more homes in Wisconsin.

Listen up! That’s not your girl. That’s Missing Middle Housing. 😍

In-fill development. Adding density to existing neighborhoods. Duplex, triplex, and quadplexes. ADUs. Transit-oriented development. Walkable neighborhoods near shops and businesses. That’s the goal of missing middle housing - enabling more people to live near the people and places that matter most.

And Wisconsin needs land use policies that make this type of development easier and more affordable to build. That’s what @housingonwardwi & @togetherforhomes will be focused on advancing this year with our statewide coalition.

This Saturday!
Join us for Freedom to Build, a Black History Month event exploring how Black homeowners can use ADUs and new AI tools to build housing.

What if the future of housing in Milwaukee is built by the people who already live here?

This Black History Month event explores how Accessory Dwelling Units (aka Granny flats or carriage houses) and AI-powered tools can help Black homeowners become builders of housing in their own neighborhoods without displacement, speculation, or outside developers. Many Black households in Milwaukee already live in ADU-eligible neighborhoods and hold significant home equity. Yet ADUs remain misunderstood, and housing policy often feels distant or threatening. This event bridges that gap. We’ll show clearly and practically how homeowners can use incremental development to support family, create rental income, and stay rooted in place.
