POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Pondered whether to share on social media what happened last week: witnessed a man jump off a balcony and someone I know passed away…

On top of everything else, the experience made me truly reflect on all the incredible things I have in my life at this very moment, (regardless of what comes next).
To aspire to truly pay attention.

Again, sending love 🤍

* and of course, thankful the most to my family. I wish I could share a recent picture together but for now only FaceTiming.

On September 12th, around forty people came to the Deer Park Library (@torontolibrary) for an afternoon of conversations and stories behind the prints. Family, friends and some who I met for the first time.

Thank you to everyone who came and to everyone who left a note in the guest book 😊 If you were there, I'd love to know your thoughts in the comments.

Shout out to @mayilcoffee for the amazing filter coffee at the session.

The Fragile Wild is on view at the Deer Park Branch through September 30, during library hours.

Greenland has been in the news this week, and through the past 12 months. This is Scoresby Sund on the east coast from Sep 2018, 8 years ago.

We sailed ~36 hours from Akureyri, in northern Iceland, to reach the fjord system. On the first zodiac outing, a polar bear was rolling on top of an iceberg in evening light. We saw no other bears for the rest of the trip.

King of Ice & Fire and Ice are on the wall at Toronto Public Library Deer Park, 40 St Clair Avenue East, through September 30. Open admission during library hours.

The full essay from the trip is on The Long Exposure. Link in bio.

And here are some of my current ‘Barbies’. The photos are 6”x6” or 8”x8”. And were printed by the fab, fine folk at @toimageworks

The frames are a labor of love. They satiate my magpie tendencies for pretty & shiny things while I get to throw in some engineering, physics, chemistry, and even math when doing them.

Find these and other works in Booth/Tent 52 this Friday-Sunday in Riverdale Farm Park for the @cabbagetownartandcraftshow

DM moi for deets. Hope you can make it. The forecast looks rather fab. X

The upcoming exhibition featuring Dana McMullen and myself. One question I get is “How did you meet Dana?”About 5 years ago, while teaching at Fleming College in Haliburton, I took the students to the galleries that were part of the village of Haliburton. In previous years, I used to do something similar which took the students to Toronto but was deemed too expensive. I digress. Dana and his wife Rose had an amazing gallery on the main street. His work was awe inspiring, large prints that captured the magic of the landscape. Our friendship began. This Saturday please join Dana and myself to explore our interpretation of the landscape. We make art to pursue our visions that come from within. Hope to see you Saturday. 1529 South Portage Rd in Lake of Bays. 10am - 5pm.

From the freezing landscapes of Greenland to the golden sunsets of Botswana. 🌍
Seeing these photographs come together as archival-grade framed prints has been very rewarding. Shout out to the incredible team at Total Image Works who have been excellent partners in iterating with me, bringing their top-notch expertise to the work.

These images capture pristine, fragile ecosystems that few get to witness, and I wanted to bring that sense of awe to a community space.
If you are in Toronto, drop by the Deer Park Library this September to see the exhibition. Let’s talk about photography, travel, and conservation.
Link in bio to RSVP for the meet-and-greet! ✨
