FASHION WEEK. FUELED BY WHITE HOUSE BLACK MARKET 🖤☕ And I don’t just mean the coffee. For the first time, @whbm White House Black Market stepped onto the New York Fashion Week stage alongside its seven sister brands of @knitwellgroup But here’s what caught my attention: They didn’t just show the clothes. They created the experience! Fashion. Coffee @saintcoffeeny. Conversation. Community. Through my mentor’s Patrick Hanlon @primalbranding lens, that’s how brands become worlds 🌍. Coffee becomes ritual. Fashion becomes presence. Community becomes belonging. That’s why this caught my attention. @starbucks has become part of my #leadership ritual. @whbm White House Black Market has become part of my executive presence! #LeadLoudly™ has become the world 🌎 where it all comes together. Leadership × Luxury × Lifestyle. Because the future doesn’t belong to brands that simply get our attention. It belongs to brands that create somewhere we want to belong.

Before Dr. Nicole Richardson says a word, she has already commanded the room. That’s not fashion! That’s executive presence! Most people think costume design is about fashion. They’re wrong. Costume design is leadership. It’s psychology. It’s branding. It’s the first conversation a character has with the audience before a single word is spoken. That’s why I don’t watch @beyondthegatescbs the the way everyone else does. I watch it like an executive leadership coach. Long before Dr. Nicole Richardson opens her mouth, she’s already established trust, confidence, credibility, and authority. Not because of dialogue. Because of design. That’s the brilliance of Emmy Award-winning costume designer Jeresa Featherstone Winfield. She understands what every great leader understands: Presence is never accidental. It’s intentional. And that’s why @whbm is more than a fashion brand. It’s a philosophy. Black and white. Strength and softness. Power and grace. Authority and approachability. Because extraordinary women refuse to be reduced to one dimension. Neither do extraordinary leaders. I coach executives to build influence before they ever give a presentation. Jeresa Featherstone Winfield does the exact same thing through wardrobe. Different stage. Same outcome. That’s why Dr. Nicole Richardson doesn’t just wear White House Black Market. She embodies executive presence. And every time she walks into a room, she reminds us of something every leader should know: Your wardrobe doesn’t finish your story. It introduces it. That’s why I don’t just interact with Beyond the Gates. I see it. I study it. I teach it. Because the greatest costume designers don’t just dress characters. They build brands. And the greatest brands don’t just sell clothing. They shape how the world experiences powerful women. #LeadLoudly #bold #leadership

Sometimes I work to resist “building a personal brand,” or dressing a certain way, because, if I’m honest, deep down it can feel performative. Or worse, vain. I know that comes from my own insecurities, but mostly I think it is an excuse. I’ve never loved shopping. I still get overwhelmed buying clothes sometimes. And for a long time I quietly believed that if my ideas were good enough, then what I wore shouldn’t matter. The work should speak for itself.
My experience should speak for itself.
It shouldn’t matter if I show up in shorts or a suit, who I am as a person and what I bring to the table should be able to stand on their own merits.  But this week on Badass Softie, I talk with stylist and branding expert @toisweeney. She said something that reminded me of reality: “People are going to form an opinion about you one way or the other. So how much more powerful is it when you decide what that impression will be?” Being intentional about how you show up is not necessarily about impressing people. Sometimes it’s about helping people feel something before you ever speak. Trust.
 Calm.
Safety.
Confidence. That’s part of why I often wear blue when I teach or consult. Toi talked about how blue communicates trust and steadiness. Those are the exact things I want people to feel around me. I loved this conversation with Toi.  We talk about how colors communicate trust, confidence, creativity, stability, and ambition. We talk about why authenticity does not mean randomness. And we talk about how intentionality is not about becoming fake or polished. It’s about learning how to communicate who you already are more clearly. Not the performance version.
Not the trend version.
Not the version somebody else told you successful people should become. Just you.
But intentional. Listen to this week’s episode of Badass Softie wherever you get your podcasts.

To the young lady who took my last name 25 years ago I salute you. Wading thru the muck and the mire of my past, tears of failure and loss, and the laughter that only comes from being in the trenches together - we are doing it. Praising God for everything you are, everything we’ve experienced, and what He will do thru us.

Neuroscience and psychology agree: Love isn’t just a feeling it’s a superpower that transforms our lives and our communities. When we practice self-love, our brains release oxytocin (the “bonding hormone”) and quiet the stress response. This helps us bounce back from setbacks, set healthy boundaries, and show up with confidence. Loving others is just as powerful. Acts of kindness and connection light up our brains’ reward centers, boost our mood, and help us build strong, meaningful bonds. Even small moments of love and empathy ripple out, creating a legacy of healing and belonging. Let’s be bold enough to love ourselves first so we can love others better. That’s how we change the world, one act of LOVE at a time. #LoveYourself #LoveOthers #Neuroscience #Healing #Community Legacy PowerhouseWomen EmotionalWellbeing Transformation BeTheChange

I'm pretty sure that 5-year-old kid would be both impressed and entertained by his 55-year-old self's running adventures - the highs, the lows, and all the 'what was I thinking?!' moments in between. Shoutout to my running crew for keeping me on my toes (literally).
