I was invited to attend Comic-Con by @theringsofpower to celebrate season three and it was just about the coolest thing 🖤 Getting to hang with the Tolkien community, meeting so many new people, and talking all things Middle-earth is such a dream come true!! I’m incredibly honored by the opportunity and will truly treasure these experiences. My heart is so full and I’m SO excited for the new season!

Way more content to come, but for now, a huge thank you to the team that put this together and all the love for those who support and encourage me here. I know these experiences wouldn’t be possible without everyone and I’m so, so grateful 🖤

On this second #tolkientuesday of National Reading Month, I’m sharing some inspirational quotes from the Professor that provide hope and perspective during dark times.

Tolkien fought in WWI, and it is believed that much of what was evil in Middle-earth was conceived during and after his experiences in the Battle of the Somme. Despite having endured the horror of war firsthand, Tolkien still managed to pen inspiring text of good triumphing over evil. His characters, most notably perhaps Samwise Gamgee and Gandalf, offer words of hope in the face of despair that still uplift us to this day. Certainly, this wisdom is needed now more than ever.

I hope that you find hope in these hopeful passages from Tolkien’s great works and correspondence.

I’m always fascinated by what makes it from the book’s pages to the movie script…past the editing suite…and into the final cut.

Of the many things Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy got right, one was this memorable scene from JRR Tolkien’s The Return of the King: The famed war cry speech King Theoden gives at the end of the chapter entitled “The Ride of the Rohirrim.”

Aside from a few lines and details added for cinematic purposes, Jackson and team perfectly captured the dialogue and description. Certainly, the original text jumps off the page, and I’m always delighted when a scene is so well done it does true justice to the author’s vision. I dare say, Tolkien would have been proud.

What volume of Tolkien’s groundbreaking LOTR trilogy will you be reading as we March into Reading? Let me know in the comments. And, tell us what your reaction was to first seeing Theoden’s speech play out on the big screen.
