What if you had a second chance to say goodbye?

A grandson suspects things are awry in his grandparent's messy basement workshop when his late grandfather’s spirit begins teaching him carpentry from across the void. The pair grow closer, catching up on the 16 years they have been apart. However, the portal to the afterlife can only remain open for so long…

OI FRED! is a solo piece written and devised by emerging artists; Tane Te Pakeke-Patterson (Director) & Tom Webster (Writer & Performer) that touches on what it would be like to speak to a long-lost family member across the void, whilst still assessing the absence of an individual in our lives.

Soundtracked by the dusty record collection of Kiwi yesteryear, it is equally hilarious and absurd as it is moving and heart-warming.

Man, It's been a great season. I know I'm slow with uploading/making this, but here it is. I love my class, every single one of them were amazing to work with and fantastic to watch. This show was amazing to do. I'll miss it all, the great conversations, the learning, the growing. I'm so proud to be part of this fantabulistic class. Ngā mihi.

Last week our directors from The Directors Lab 2023 Anson Ng, Hone Taukiri and Tane Te Pakeke-Patterson had their first intensive. This is where they spend a week working with actors exploring their craft and mining what it means to be a director for them. Here’s some snippets from the sharing they had on the final day. Watch till the end to see a massive snail 🐌 🥰

Thanks to our actors Celine Dam, Ariadne Baltazar, Molly Curnow, Pennsylvania Esera, Talia Pua and Tom Webster and ngā mihi to @ketearonui_tamaki and the Factory Theatre for having us!

The Director’s Lab initiative is supported by Creative New Zealand, Foundation North, Auckland Council and Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board. You can watch a video showing you what it’s all about at the link in our bio, or head here: http://bit.ly/TDLMoreInfo

If you haven’t heard from us in a minute, that’s because we’ve been busy cooking up a storm in the editing room! But our lovely social media team showed us this video of clips from the cutting room floor and it was too cute not to share
