Incredible, electrifying performance by the mighty Guilt Trip @guilttripmhc at the New Century Hall @newcenturymcr , Manchester, last night. Definitely one of the heaviest bands I’ve seen in a long while. This was a sold out headline on their home soil, which was clearly an emotional experience for the band who after a decade have conquered large stages in Europe and the States.

As titans of the metallic hardcore scene, these guys certainly know how to make a menacingly, thunderous noise. They dialled up the intensity on stage from the first track. Slamming out huge guitar riffs, cacophonously ferocious bass lines, and the most incredible hard impact, wild drumming. Tom Aimson @tomaimson is an absolute beast behind the kit.

The set featured some massive tracks from the latest album, Armour Of Angels, which has broadened their appeal as their sound has evolved. Burn, Angel Eyes, and No Love Lost being the stand out. There was also room for older hits like Severance, and a track named after the band themselves. Throughout the raucous hardcore guitar breakdowns, there were also definite nods to bands such as Rage Against The Machine and Beastie Boys (I kept thinking of their epic track, Sabotage, as performed by a hardcore band).

And there was an expectation from the band of crowd participation in this set of high intensity. Guilt Trip claim to hold a record for the largest circle pits and they were certainly wildly in evidence last night, alongside regular moshing and a wall of death towards the end. I was a little further back for this one, happy to watch others getting stuck in.

¡GUILT TRIP PRENDIÓ LA MECHA Y SEPULTURA ENCENDIÓ EL INFIERNO! 🔥

Sepultura vino a derribarla. 🤘💥
