A bit of history, context, and a deep, intellectual interview with local residents from the Aurukun area.

These were our 88 days with the genius @tomasmelville .
We had good times and bad times here — mostly bad for me 😅. I got bitten by dogs, threatened with a stick, but could always be worse.

The good part: we built a swimming pool, Tomás became a life coach helping people get back on their feet, and we met our Indonesian family. Steph would be proud of you bro 🤣

Here are some freak facts that can never be missing:
• Alcohol is completely banned in the town. Drinking or bringing alcohol in is illegal. Fines can reach up to $70,000,000 if you get caught.
• We close the shop if there’s any conflict (like people throwing punches outside).
• Concrete blocks are placed at all entrances to prevent robberies.
• You can’t swim — the water is full of crocodiles.
• If there’s a funeral, the shop closes.
• Almost everyone is related — probably 4 or 5 massive families. Everyone is connected to everyone.
• Street bonfires are common, and there are wild dogs roaming around (you always have to go out with a stick).

Un poco de historia, contexto y una profunda e intelectual entrevista con locatarios de la zona de Aurukun.

Estos fueron nuestros 88 dias con el genio @tomasmelville . Aca lo pasamos bien y mal, yo más mal 😅 me mordieron los perros, me amenzaron cn un palo, pero siempre podria ser peor. Lo bueno, construimos una piscina, Tomás fue entrenador profesional de rugby y coach de vida para sacar la gente adelante, conocimos a nuestra familia de Indonesia.

Aca una series de datos freaks que nunca pueden faltar.
- Esta prohibido tomar y entrar alcohol al pueblo. Multas de $70.000.000 si te cachan.
- Cerramos la tienda si esque hay conflicto (si se estan agarrando a combos afuera)
- Ponen bloques de concreto en todas las entradas para que no roben
- No se puede bañar, lleno de cocodrilos
- Si hay funeral se cierra la tienda.
- Casi todos son parientes, deben ser unas 4-5 familias super grandes. Todos relacionados con todos.
- Fogatas en las calles son comunes y perros salvajes en la calle (hay que salir con stick siempre)
