Name: Tom Age: 33 Year Diagnosed: 2006 Location: Baltimore, MD

“Some tips I would give for a newly diagnosed T1 is to just take things one day at a time. It can seem very overwhelming and daunting when you think about how we have to live with this every single day. Just put one foot in front of the other, one step at a time. Also, stay up on the latest technology. There have been huge strides in recent years, which should continue to advance in the next decade.

I'd never want to change my sense of humor. I think humor is what really gets people through life. It's okay to make fun of it.

Since I was a young kid, I've always been into movies and filmmaking. In 2nd grade I would run around with my parents' VHS camera, making movies with my friends. I’m fortunate enough to still work on film projects now. And whenever I’m working on a movie, I get so in the zone that I completely forget that I have diabetes. It’s freeing. Find something you’re passionate about and lose yourself in it.”

Social distance fishing yesterday was a success. Our yearly fishing outing went well. So nice to see these guys after months of not being able to. I caught this little fella in the 3rd pic & tossed him back after giving him a big meal. Wonderful day. #Fishing #Outdoors
