I work from home and one of the things I struggle with is separating work from the rest of my life.

Imagine sitting at the same desk for years, working your hours there, only for it to become your hobby table the moment you clock out. It’s convenient and absolutely a blessing. But sometimes, I find myself thinking about work even when I’m supposed to be doing something I love.

The same familiar walls surround me. The same table that has witnessed my busiest days, my frustrations, and everything in between.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m an absolute homebody. I love being home. But I think I needed to step away from the familiar, even just for a little while.

So on a whim, I packed my journal and stationery, found a cute milk tea shop, and spent some time writing there.

And somehow, the change of scenery made all the difference. For the first time in a while, journaling felt like just journaling again. No work in the back of my mind, no familiar desk reminding me of the things I had to do.

Just me, my journal, and a little time to myself 🌷

All the animals I drew for the art challenge with vs without reference. Swipe to the last photo for the surprise. tsk. If this won't convince you that reference is key, I don't know what else to tell you. 😅😁
