WEEPING KEY - ROTTING POTPOURRI second cassette release for the upcoming Hissing Conjurations fall batch is Rotting Potpourri, the debut release by black ambient tyrant Weeping Key. Weeping Key offers five lo-fi tracks of haunted and melancholic dungeon synthesizer music that should please worshippers of the Les Legions Noires black ambient masters, as well as more recent devotees of the style like Obsidian and Atrium Malum. It is Hissing Conjurations' bleak pleasure to commit Rotting Potpourri to an analog tomb for the first time in an edition of 30 cassettes on clear shells with printed pink labels, dubbed and printed once again by the expert hands of @magpie.cemetery Rotting Potpourri cassettes will be available on Thursday, November 5th along with the rest of the Hissing Conjurations Fall 2026 batch. Hail dark dungeon music.

My second feature for DS Sunday today, I am honoured to present the debut release of collaborative project Winterwraith, releasing today in cassette and digital formats through @enchantedsilverrecords Winterwraith is Izendhar (@tombwizard / Tyrant of Gorgon) & Demothah (Vitalith & Here Be Dragons), and here in Magic from an Ancient Time, they create an instantly transportive soundscape of darkly elven dungeon synth that sparkles with disquieting melodies, chilled with a wintery bite. Magic from an Ancient Time indeed, and I look forward to hearing more from this project. Stream it on the channel now through the link in my bio. #winterwraith #enchantedsilverrecords #dungeonsynth #dungeonsynthsunday #darkdungeonmusic #darkdungeonsynth #oldschooldungeonsynth

What is “dungeon synth?” This genre is both dark and driving and playful — and it’s not just “video game music.” Monday night’s show @localsdsm was billed as the first dungeon synth show to come to Des Moines and welcomed 50-plus fans who wore a mixture of Renaissance Faire attire and all black. The lineup featured Tyrant of Gorgon from Waterloo, Indiana’s Amon Lanc and Bo Becker of Des Moines’ Glass Ox performing under his new project, Holy Vestige. @holyvestige @amonlanc_ds @tombwizard 📸 @madda.lens

Analog loot from October; @dale_of_shadows September 2025 Bundle, 3 tapes, The Black Metal Stuff from December 2023 Bundle, 2 tapes plus 2 more: a Tomb Wizard and the Siriondil debut. September Bundle is Dungeon/Fantasy Synth represented by Glaive Wielder's Spells of Shadow and Snow (a gloomy journey through frosty catacombs and desolate landscapes under the winter shadow), Old Forsaken Realm's Relics of a Sunken Past (a stirring epic in III parts, almost metallic sound) and Heidespreuk with Veluwe I (an atmospheric journey through the Dutch woods and marshlands, beautiful). December 2023 BM part was the second tape of the British project Siriondil who, to put it bluntly are the "mom can we get Summoning / we have Summoning at home"-meme's Summoning at home. But I'm saying this with all the love, this is very enjoyable Summoning/Tolkien worship and I bet I would have loved this back when I was on the hunt for similar music. No unnecessary extra elements, very pure atmospheric Tolkien"black" metal. I got part II as part of the bundle and first separately. There's a third chapter, also from 2023 released only digitally and it's been quiet on their front ever since. The other metal tape of the bundle was the 3rd release of Welsh Ysbrydnos, a bit under half an hour of pagan black metal with harsh female guest lead vox and a synth track in the middle. I should listen to more of their releases, this is interesting. Last, another monolithic, minimalistic offering by Tomb Wizard. Ambiance of old burial sites and subterranean, dim cathedrals. Uneasy listening for the undead ears. #cassettes #dungeonsynthtapes #blackmetaltapes #daleofshadows #tapes #tombwizard #ysbrydnos #siriondil #heidespreuk #oldforsakenrealm #glaivewielder #paganblackmetal #ukblackmetal #dungeonsynth #tolkien #atmosphericblackmetal
