🎁My best friend Brian Feldman GOT ME PUT IN THE SMITHSONIAN for my holiday present!

After being stuck to Brian for over two weeks when we arrived in Honolulu on Dec 6 for the marathon, he revealed to me and my parents my big present on his last night, tonight. It’s this official document that the Smithsonian acquired the poster from New York Theater Workshop run of #kristinawongsweatshopoverlord for their archives.

I’m now a little part of history!

This doesn’t mean it will be going on display in their museum. As it turns out they own and care for millions of objects in their archives. Many which don’t go on display for the public. But it will be cared for in their archives, it will be recorded, photographed and searchable (it will take a while before you can find it on their site) and maybe, just maybe one day will be in their museum.

This was no easy task. He wrote the museum and advocated for almost a year to have them include this. He wrote a long list of what the poster represented in American culture and history (COVID, American theater, API identity, sewing, mutual aid). He went back and forth with the curator. And didn’t back down. He got in touch with New York Theater Workshop to get the poster file and also contacted their printer to make these. And then once they approved the donation, he met the curator in DC to donate the poster.

I guess I forgive Brian for signing me up for the Honolulu Marathon against my will. I guess.

Maybe.

I did engagement photos of my niece @devincorea and @kylewilliamtimmthefirst and had a great time taking pictures which were followed by whiskey drinking lol. I was of course helped greatly by the wonderful @hannafishermakeup. Happy Monday everyone.
