Between an idea and the finished object lies a process of research, experimentation and transformation.

Curated by Andia Mode, MODEEN’s Light & Process brings together more than a decade of luminary-object development, revealing the design journey from ideas, sketches and prototypes to experimentation and finished pieces.

Through the meeting of handmade craftsmanship and contemporary technologies, hybrid objects emerge that blur the boundaries between art and design, while rethinking the relationship between traditional and contemporary modes of making.

How do cities remember when much of their built environment is new? In places shaped by rapid growth and transformation, memory is often produced not through ruins or inherited streetscapes, but through institutions, archives, artistic practices, and collective narratives. This conversation explores how cities such as Doha are not only constructing cultural histories but actively shaping the forms of memory that will define their future.

This conversation will be led by:
- Habeeb M. Abu-Futtaim (Artist & Educator, co-founder of GubGub Studios)
- Isabella Rossen (Countryside Head of Programming in National Museum of Qatar)
- Dr. Thomas Modeen (Director of Qatar Preparatory School)
- Moderated by Tirdad Zolghadr (Curator of Academic Engagement at MATHAF: Arab Museum of Modern Art)
