POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Well, the time has come folks. After 12 years of mischief, melody, memories and mayhem, Free the Cynics will be hanging up our musical boots and calling it a day. There are way too many people to thank for supporting us, encouraging us, giving us way more love than we ever deserved to thank in a stupid post, but we’re so grateful for you giving us space in your life, to make ours better.

We are throwing an absolute DOOZY of a party at Dickens on Saturday, April 25th to say farewell and sign off in style. We have an absolute dream line up for ya, and we’re privileged to share the stage with:

Betaboys, who’ll be bringing their infectious, new-wave bangers to the stage.

We’ll see the reunion of Calgary psych-rock heroes Black Phoenix Orchestra after a long hiatus, you don’t want to miss that!

And we’re delighted to have the Rock n Roll powerhouse that is All Hands on Jane, who are back and ready to rip your heart up with riffs for days!

Huge thanks to Chris and Ambor at Dickens for letting us clamber up on that famous stage one more time, we can’t wait to see you down the front, and we’ll be bringing that hooky swagger in bucketload for one last Cynical soiree. Ticket link in bio

Much love, Rich, Owen, Kev and Levi x

Today, @betaboysband release their new album, Great Pretenders. And in many ways, it's a continuation of the band's ongoing exploration of sonic, Calgarian nostalgia.

Hit the #LinkInBio to explore why this was so important to them, and why they chose @cmcinemas10 as the spot to film a music video. And don't miss their show tonight with @shy_friend_ and @seaoflettuce!

That’s a wrap for another year of Listen Up Calgary! Thanks to everyone who donated money, auction items, their time, effort, and for all of you who came along to raise a WHOPPING $10,176.08 FOR @distresscentreyyc which is just above our $10K target!

Special shout out to Calgary’s fave spot to get rowdy, @dickensyyc for letting us host at their beautiful venue and for their amazing service, and the amazing folks at @x929calgary for all of their support, generosity and dedication to the cause. Your support is huge and means the world!

Look ma! I'm a record label. The first release from Tamarack Records is officially out today! "One Lone Candle" is the new song by Thomas Thomas, their first working with producer Graham Lessard (Stars, The Barr Brothers). One Lone Candle is a ‘slow burn love song.’ The lion's share of love songs reflect the experience of a bright spark and fiery, albeit short, romance. This loving mo-town meets garage-pop number shines a light on love that glows steady. With urgent guitars and sparkly girl-gang backing vocals akin to The Supremes, this song is intended to soar lovingly. The title comes from the one stubborn candle you can never blow out on a birthday cake, and the one girlfriend it teases you with.

Thomas Thomas always brings a smile to my face - catchy tunes, witty lyrics, and a captivating chemistry between the two Thomases make them one of Calgary's most unique bands. Throw in some Xmas cheer and you've got all the Ingredients for a holiday treat!
