POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
In the beginning, there was straps and gloves and ski boards with pointy tips.
This was an event called Team Challenge from 1994? It’s hard to remember anything before yesterday, but it was a long time ago before these guys were Grandparents!
Hope you enjoy these early days of wakeboarding. This was from the film High Wake Drifters. It was a @sidewayzfilms and Gravity Films. Filmed by @brookswilliamferrell & @dvanzura back when they were a lot prettier.

Scott Byerly riding for Wake Tech in 1995.
You can hear Tony Finn in the boat. I think Tom King was snapping photos and @brookswilliamferrell was videoing Scott riding.
It’s super cool to just watch Scott ride low pole back in the day. Sidewayz was fortunate enough to be around in the begging of these wakeboard days. I spent most of the rest of my wakeboard film career traveling and filming with Scott.
Happy Birthday! Looking forward to listening to your podcast on the @bonifaybanter today! Oh yeah, Happy Birthday Scott!

Back in the day, in the mid nineties, when we had no boat towers and we didn’t need to wear vests! Enjoying my first twin tip, and the first sample of women board shorts by @rustyworldwide This is probably one of the first recorded Mexican rolls and Mexican Air Rolls! Thank you so much @sidewayzfilms @tonyfinngoingbig and @tomking

Back story behind Amber's cover on Wakeboarding Mag, thank you for the back story and attention to detail in your riding. Kids - take note!

"I arrived at the Supra shoot in Tennessee and was told I could potentially shoot for a cover. Tom King was the photographer and I knew my Melon 3 was the shot to get.
It took a while as I had 2 prerequisites. To be above the tree line and have the grab directly in the middle of my heels.
We worked hard with chase boat and angles to produce this cover that I was 100% stoked with." @amberwing @tomking @wakeboardingmag

If you had to show someone a picture of what wakeboarding should look like, what trick would they be doing? Would it be boat, cable or winch? Who would it be in the picture? Looking at this O’Neill advertisement from July of 1998, there’s one thing apparent. Greg Nelson cares very much how his tricks look. It has that west coast, snowboarding vibe. Not going for the most technical trick. Just making everything flow. Timeless shots in every clip. It basically just looks awesome, even in today’s standards. This would be a solid candidate for “what wakeboarding should look like”.
