A few (belated) pics from our trip up north, playing Strummercamp.

Suffice to say, we had a blast.

“Everybody wants to bum a ride on the rock and roller coaster, we went out and got our name in small print on the poster” - Joe Strummer (The Clash - All the young punks).

(Pics - Nick Johnston, John Clifford, Jeff Dawson - thanks chaps)

Our little beat group definitely subscribe very much to the ‘less is more’ policy in regard to output. ‘Do one more take, but this time, like you fucking mean it’ is a phrase that is bandied about a lot in the studio….keeping us all in check and working to the clock.

With that in mind, we’re glad to report that we’ve recorded 4 new tracks at our favourite spot, One Cat (Crystal Palace) under the watchful eye (and extremely precise ear) of our engineer Jon. We’ll be mixing next month with a view to releasing either a 4 track EP or a single later in the year. Will keep you posted.

Here we have the singer ‘doubling up’ on a couple of lines (as per the recommendation of the always exacting rhythm section), from our Albert Camus/Mark E. Smith collaboration entitled: The Fall. Even from this bit of footage, you can see it’s got ‘hit’ written all over it. Right?

Great to be back in One Cat Studio, Crystal Palace, with our fave engineer Jon, recording some songs for release later in the year. All will be revealed.

Here’s some footage of Tom and Michael, not just the best rhythm section in the business, but proving they can get those BV’s down when absolutely necessary.

A massive THANK YOU to everyone who has supported us in some way, shape or form over last 12 months. We couldn’t do it without you.

Liking/sharing social media posts, playing tracks, giving us airplay, saying nice things, and of course, attending gigs - all this and more, sustains us throughout the year and is much appreciated.

We’re planning on going into the studio in early new year, with a view to getting an as yet untitled EP out toward tail end, and have a few gigs already booked in, all of which we’re excited about. We hope you’ll continue to dig us as much as we dig you in 2026. Stay safe, stay crucial, stay free and Happy New Year to you all. Look sharp.

The Ballad of Richey Edwards, live at The Fiddlers Elbow, Camden Town.

No flab. No frills. No fuckin’ about. No future.

“Simplicity is ultimate sophistication”. Leonardo Da Vinci

“Beautiful Welsh boy whose looks’ll never fade
Exploded like a cultural hand grenade
Spilling softly spoken words on to an empty page
Carve out your commitment with a razor blade”.

Our literary pretensions got the better of us at last week’s Good Mixer gig. As is our wont, I introduced our track ‘Deadbeat Blues’ by quoting the first few lines of Allen Ginsberg’s monumental poem, Howl (for Carl Solomon). “I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness, starving hysterical etc”. After the show not one, but two random unconnected punters asked me what I’d said about Madness (as in the band)….maybe it was because we were in Camden. Anyways, we all three had a laugh about it….an analogy for life perhaps.

I’m thinking of doing a rewrite: Howl (for Chas Smash). “I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by Madness. Ska will do that to you”.

Ta very much to all who came down.

An acoustic version of our hit that never was: The Ballad of Richey Edwards

Beautiful Welsh boy who’ll never grow old
We’ll never know the number of the hearts he stole
A fierce intelligence, and eyes of kohl
Working class hero, came to bury rock n roll

Hey Richey thanks for coming
Hey Richey yours eternally
Hey hey Richey thanks for nothing
Repeat after me fuck Queen and country

Beautiful Welsh boy who’s looks will never fade
Exploded like a cultural hand grenade
Spilling softly spoken words on to an empty page
Carve out your commitment with a razor blade

Hey Richey stay beautiful
Hey Richey it’s your soul to bear
Hey hey Richey stay crucial
Culture alienation boredom and despair

Doomed romantics must confess, suicide is not abstract nor is it painless
Doomed poets must concede, if they cut you, you will bleed,
and to vanish from this earth won’t solve the mysteries of the universe

Beautiful Welsh boy who’ll never grow old
From the hallowed valley lands of the troubled souls
In feather boas, quoting Camus minds were blown,
Working class villain elevated rock ‘n’ roll

Hey Richey thanks for coming
Hey Richey you got the suss
Hey Richey thanks for everything
All we want from you are the kicks you’ve given us

Be-Bop City - channelling Dizzy Gillespie and Jack Kerouac, it’s a place in one’s imagination, which along with the symbolism of ‘the ghost of Dean Moriarty’ offers the possibility of an interesting life. Poetry, jazz, sex, booze, drugs, passion, art, kicks, ideas, creativity, Zen, Tao, spirituality, free expression, hunger for knowledge, being beat, being broke, being hip, being saintly, being present, streams of consciousness, dope, hope and the open road. In a word, freedom. Ya’ dig?

Footage from our recent @dublincastlecamden gig courtesy of our good friend Mark Pointer.
