our album, “GIRL, YOU’LL BE A GIANT SOON” IS OUT NOW 🔓

10 songs about loss and resentment and sports, among other things. (except apparently not on apple music or youtube yet :/ ).

thank you to @sprotsplayer for engineering, producing, & mixing, to @tommydread & @alexaloneworld for providing their recording spaces & additional prowess, & to @adamgonsalves at telegraph mastering for putting the final touches on everything. thanks also to @filmnfish & @y.a.l.l.b.o.i for recording on several tracks. swipe for the full credits.

huge thank you also to @darling_farm for the album art & to @candlepin_records for providing a home for the record. <3

we’re playing release shows tomorrow, saturday, 2/7, in san antonio at @thelonesomerose with @elnuh, @stontheband, & @lamplandband, and on sunday, 2/22, in austin at @29thstreetballroom with @proun1234, @a.l.west, & @ritual_alt.

sometimes it feels like the next time we post about something it will finally be into an atmosphere where there aren’t any number of mass atrocities happening in our country and the world, and i won’t feel like a self-righteous idiot trying to address them, but of course, they instead just grow worse and more abundant, and the sharing of anything else increasingly hollow. the internet is an echo chamber, but nonetheless, we are grateful for music & the communities we are a part of because of it, and the ways in which those communities provide respite, insight, catharsis, & support in the face of a cRuMbLiNg eMpiRe. free palestine, fuck ice, happy super bowl sunday.

the virginia creeper ep “GOBLN7” is out now 🔓

have never been 100% on eps, but we recorded too many songs and now here we are. GOBLN7 is a slice of the music we’ve spent the last several years working on as a band, a product of experimenting together and inching closer to what inspires us the most.

thank you to @sprotsplayer for engineering, producing, & mixing this record. marshall is basically a band member at this point and one of the most brilliant people (and friends) to create with. 👯‍♂️

thank you to @tommydread & @alexaloneworld for providing their recording spaces & additional prowess, & thank you to @adamgonsalves at telegraph mastering for putting the final touches on everything.

huge thank you also to @luckyduckkie for letting us use one of their incredible drawings for the album art.

playing a show tonight at @hitwatx to celebrate with @pam3santiago, @pallas_wept, & @ritual_alt. doors at 8pm, music at 9pm. we will have cassettes! and maybe some other surprises …

thank you to everyone who has encouraged, supported, or been apart of this project since its inception. there is more music to share and much more to be made soon.

endlessly grateful for the capacity to make music & art & the communities we get to be a part of because of it, especially the ways in which those communities provide respite, insight, catharsis, & support as the world burns in myriad directions.

much thanks of course also to GOBLN7, wherever you are. (👹👺)

PEOPLE LOVE THE DALLAS COWBOYS BECAUSE THEY WANT TO LOVE THEMSELVES is out now, available everywhere in the digital ether 🌫️🏈🏆

we recorded most of this album at @lazybonesaudio in 2021 but began writing these songs as far back as 2019. they are quite old now and in a sense archival, but they mark a special time for the virginia creeper band. 🪽

thank you to @realaaronzachary, @arguello.jpg, @david.arthur.stimson, and @stilldumbfounded for playing and writing these songs, @sprots_player for producing, engineering, and mixing, @tommydread and @lazybonesaudio for engineering and mastering (and playing the hammered dulcimer), @y.a.l.l.b.o.i for playing pedal steel, and many mentioned here + @alexthespeedlimit for singing background vocals.

special thanks also to @michelleayoubi & @kyle_dugger4 for playing these songs so many times and being a part of their formal culling and dispatching. :)

sorry if the album title offends anyone; it’s only meant to make you think. i did hear the cowboys won last night - haters will say it was rigged.

onward now to wrapping up the next record so we can begin the next, next one 👀 always stay closing my angles 👼📐 thank you for listening ~ long live sports rock 🏉

as promised, we return today with a surprise: next friday (9/27) we will release a collection of old virginia creeper songs entitled, “People Love the Dallas Cowboys Because They Want to Love Themselves.” the record is streaming on bandcamp today for the real heads. :)

some of you may be mad because we don’t play these songs anymore; some of you may be mad because these aren’t the songs you’ve heard us play recently; still some of you may be mad for completely unrelated reasons. a select few of you are likely perfectly contented having achieved something close to “nirvana.”

there is a plethora of new vc music in the pipeline, so we figured it is time to begin emptying the disney vault, if you will. thank you all for listening. 🩶

Oh joyous day! Today, my friends and I birthed a fresh new audio baby named M•I•C•R•O•S•P•I•R•I•T
•
I first started making music with Cor and Alex as Frail Talk in 2020 when we all had to alchemize our respective touring schedules into studio time due to the early pandemic pandemonium. 4 years later and I can say with great pride that these are some of my best friends
•
This record is our sophomore release and it is so fulfilling to see how much we’ve grown as a band since New Creation Myths came out. @frailtalk has evolved infinitely
•
I’m so very proud of the way these songs sound and grateful to all the hard work that everyone put into making this thing happen. It really sounds like us…not always the easiest thing to do in the studio✨

Thank you @cor.bleep.bloop and @alexwoodchek for being the driving force behind the scenes; for being amazing songwriters, artists, creative visionaries, and just the kindest people who lead with your hearts. Thanks to @nathanielrileymusic for being a powerful force of positivity and an ever-enthusiastic collaborator who has bounced around from banjo to electric guitar and then bass (go check out the music he’s released under his own name). Thank you to @lomelda and @tommydread for treating these songs with exactly the right amount of care and attention all while helping us experience the joy of being in the studio together; for building an environment conducive to our creativity. Thank you to @ben.p.ward for capturing these moments and for having the best 👁️. Lastly, thank you to all of our friends, fans, and families for supporting us and following along for the ride! I love you ❤️! Enjoy Microspirit
