POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I have been in Melbourne for the last few weeks doing my first ever show, Unintentionally Off Grid. I’d like to do another show before I go back to middle of nowhere, Norseman, Western Australia. No date yet, but tickets will be free and I’d love you to come (pay what you want if you wish but absolutely not necessary) - please message me for date/time/tickets. Whilst here, I have also been working full time as a court transcriber (on WA time, so three hours time difference) so have not seen as much as I would like, as preparing a show is exciting and exhausting and sometimes bewildering experience. I love what I’ve created and so do the others who attended, so I’ll definitely do it again somewhere, sometime else. To see more on how it went, check my Insta 😳 as always, sorry about the speling misstakes and poor grammar, I am really good at English and proofreading (honest!) just wanted to post asap and there are quite a few shockers in there.

**I’m sure Tom doesn’t need any introduction. 👋**

If you’re part of Australia’s creative community, there’s a pretty good chance you know @tomnoblecreative — or at least know his work.

Photographer. Creative. Collaborator. Portrait and event shooter. Arts person through and through.

But today, we’re talking about a different part of Tom’s life.

**His super.**

For around 15 years, Tom’s super was basically something happening in the background.

Money went in.

He assumed it was being looked after.

He didn’t really know how it worked.

Then we sat down.

And we did the maths.

👀 Fees?

Higher than he realised.

📈 Investment performance?

Not what he expected.

⏳ The next 20+ years?

That’s where things got really interesting.

Our rough modelling suggested the difference could potentially be **$250k–$300k by retirement.**

And that’s exactly why financial literacy matters.

You don’t need to be a finance nerd.

You don’t need to understand every bit of jargon.

You just need to understand enough to ask:

**Where is my money?
What am I paying?
What am I invested in?
And what could it mean over time?**

For Tom, seeing the numbers was a “kick in the pants”.

But it also gave him something much more useful:

**a plan.**

A plan that actually fits his creative career, irregular income and the life he wants to live.

And yes…

☕️ **the iced coffees are staying.**

Because being financially literate isn’t about giving up everything you enjoy.

It’s about understanding your money well enough to make room for **today AND tomorrow.**

I’ve shared Tom’s full story in this week’s newsletter.

MIFF Gala Night.

Some nights are more than a celebration.
They become part of the story.

Melbourne, thank you for the energy, the cinema, the people, and the moments I’ll carry with me.
A beautiful chapter for Kings of Venice. 🎬
