CONFESSIONS (book and lyrics by Jonathan Keebler, music by me, based on the memoir Confessions of a Gay Priest by Tom Rastrelli) is being presented in a staged reading by Theatre Now, featuring direction by Joe Barros, music direction by Ian Miller, and a wonderful cast. It’s been a long journey to get to this moment, and we can’t wait for the journey to continue.

When I was younger and just starting out in theatre, a Playbill was such an incredible escape for me. It was like the Holy Grail of Broadway to me. Seeing names of people I admired, shows I wanted to be in, a city I dreamed of living in one day. When I got to be in my first Playbill on Broadway it was a true thrill, a massive accomplishment. Flash forward and seeing something like this is a moment not lost on me. I am truly lucky what I get to do in one of the toughest industries and cities. I am so thrilled to be able to share this story and this music. I hope some of you can make it.

“Theatre Now will present an invitation-only industry reading of the new musical Confessions October 20 in New York City.

Based on Tom Rastrelli’s memoir Confessions of a Gay Priest, the musical adaptation features a book and lyrics by Jonathan Keebler with music by Bob Kelly, two gay men who were raised Catholic. Joe Barros will direct with Ian Miller providing music direction.

The cast will feature Conor Crowley (Bat Out of Hell), Dan Hoy (Pirates!, Harmony), Jonny Cortes (Gollum Owned a Tropical Smoothie), Jesse Swimm (School of Rock, Mary Poppins), Noah Cornwell (Drunk Shakespeare), John F. Higgins (Succession), Nicholas Kraft (Drag: The Musical), Jillian Louis (It Shoulda Been You), and Jax Terry (Beatsville).

The two-act musical drama, about love and the search for meaning, explores the intertwining of sexuality and spirituality through the true story of a modern-day gay priest.”

General management will be provided by Theatre Now with casting by Erik Schark. Industry members interested in attending can email info@tnny.org.
