🌼✨ LEAD Summit XV is Here. ✨🌼
15ñera for Justice: Divina Juventud – From Innocence to Resistance

📅 Friday, October 16, 2026
⏰ 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM
📍 Santos Manuel Student Union – South
🎓 California State University, San Bernardino

This year marks 15 years of collective vision, scholarship, and activism.

The LEAD Summit 15ñera is more than an anniversary. It is a coming of age ceremony for a movement.

Rooted in the cultural tradition of the quinceañera and illuminated by the spirit of Día de los Muertos, this year’s theme — “Divina Juventud: From Innocence to Resistance” — honors both remembrance and renewal. We celebrate the educators, organizers, and visionaries who paved the way, while uplifting the sacred fire of youth rising to defend democracy, truth, and justice.

This summit is a living ofrenda.
A space where scholarship dances with art.
Where activism speaks through ceremony.
Where education is practiced con conciencia.

Through powerful panels, featured speakers, cultural performances, altars of remembrance, and community rituals, LEAD Summit XV invites educators, students, advocates, artists, and organizers to:

🔥 Rise
🌼 Reflect
🎶 Rejoice
✊ Resist
🌱 Reimagine

In a time when truth is endangered and democracy feels fragile, we ask:

• What does it mean to grow up in this moment?
• How do we transform grief into collective power?
• What new forms of justice emerge when we center the brilliance and courage of youth?

The 15ñera for Justice is not just a commemoration. It is a declaration:

We have come of age.
Innocence has given way to insight.
Resistance is our collective rite of passage.
Ni muertos ni vencidos — we rise.

🎙️ Today, IECN’s Manny Sandoval and Denise Berver recorded their respective episodes of the SBVC Centennial Podcast at KVCR Public Media, joining a select group of 25 guests invited to reflect on the people, moments and movements that have shaped San Bernardino Valley College during its first 100 years — and what may define its next century.

Manny shared his full-circle journey from studying Radio Broadcasting at SBVC and submitting his first IECN article as a sophomore to later returning to Valley College as a faculty member teaching in the Film Department. Denise reflected on an equally powerful multigenerational connection to SBVC, with her grandmother, mother, Denise herself and her son each having graduated from and/or worked at the college across generations.

A special thank you to SBVC Centennial Podcast host Thomas Robles and the team at KVCR Public Media for creating space to preserve these stories. Both episodes are expected to be released in October as SBVC continues celebrating a century of education, opportunity and community in the Inland Empire.

✨ Awesome Celebration ✨

I wanted to thank everyone who either worked at or attended the big Colton Birthday Celebration. It was so awesome to see everyone come together to celebrate our city! And a Shout Out to the City of Colton Public Utilities for sponsoring the drone show. That was a cool grand finale!

Job Well Done by our city staff as they were on the ground for hours to make sure our community had lots of fun. It was a hot day, but we all pulled through.

COLTON is a small town with a big heart!

What a night for Highlanders in Orange County. 💙💛⚾

Our 2nd Annual UCR Night at Angel Stadium brought together 900+ Highlanders for an unforgettable evening of pride, connection, and community. From the UCR Village to the stands, the energy was undeniable and a powerful reminder of what it means to be part of the Highlander family.

A special moment of the night was seeing our very own OC Network President, Dr. Thomas Robles, take the field to throw out the ceremonial first pitch, joined by his family. Moments like these reflect exactly what this network is about: celebrating our alumni, uplifting one another, and creating experiences that stay with us for a lifetime.

We are incredibly grateful to Tracy Telliard and the UCR Alumni team, as well as our campus and community partners, for making this event possible. Your continued support allows us to bring Highlanders together in meaningful ways across Orange County and beyond.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, showed pride, and made this night so special. We can’t wait to do it again.

Go Highlanders. 🐻💙💛

Last night, ALPFA OC showed up for community in a big way.

Our chapter made the drive to San Bernardino Valley College to celebrate SBVC’s Centennial Gala and honor 100 years of legacy, opportunity, and impact in the Inland Empire. The gala was created to celebrate SBVC’s history while raising support for future generations of students, which made it even more meaningful for us to be part of the night.

I’m especially proud that ALPFA OC helped lock in $5,000 in scholarships for students. That is what this work is all about — showing up, building bridges, and investing in the future of our communities. ALPFA’s broader mission includes expanding access, opportunity, and scholarships for students and emerging professionals, so this moment felt deeply aligned with who we are.

Proud of our ALPFA OC familia for making the trip, representing with heart, and helping make an impact that will live on far beyond one evening.

🍊 Highlander Day of Service 2026 💙💛

Today, OC Highlanders rolled up our sleeves at Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County and donated our time to support our neighbors. We spent the afternoon bagging fresh citrus that will be distributed across the community.

And as a little full circle UCR moment, the easy peel mandarins so many of us know as Cuties and Halos are often the UCR developed Tango mandarin, a Riverside born innovation that became a go to snack around the world.

Proud of our alumni for showing up with heart, hands, and Highlander spirit. Want to join the next service day or event with UCR Alumni OC? Tap the link in bio and come volunteer with us!
