During my solo exhibition at the Weston Media Works @t0mroche gifted me his book: space pictures. I promised to open it in the air closer to space but first I took it to, Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, Check Republic and Poland before returning to the UK.

Thanks for letting me abuse it a little 🚀👨‍🚀

"Cigarettes for poems is a book that I was going to publish of poems, written whilst drunk on my iPhone, but because I’m not good at iCloud I lost them.
Now sober, Cigarettes for poems is made reflecting the feeling of losing the poems, and the feeling of recklessness within life and the realisation of growing up."

Also available at @bop_bristol this weekend: COHORT 2020-21, a collaborative project by fifteen photographers who completed their MA at University of the West of England in 2021.

In order to produce a book, the photographers contributed images of research, communications between themselves and projects in various stages of development between late 2019 and early 2021. These images were edited into a pool of 300 and a sequencing tool was developed which uses meta data submitted by the photographers to propose links between the images. This tool was used to create the image sequence that appears in the printed book.

Published in an edition of 300.
Designed by Ben Weaver Studio @herepress using the COHORT image sequencing tool.
276 images.

With excerpts of WhatsApp conversations between the photographers plus additional text by @aaschuman and @dr_shawn_sobers .
Each book comes with an inserted print by one of the COHORT 2020-21 photographers.

I’ve found this experience to be such a great way to think about process and the rambling route artist have take in order to come out to a conclusion in their practice.

Be sure to have a play around on cohort.photography (link in my bio) and see what sequence comes out of your own decision making…

COHORT 2020-21

I am delighted to share this exciting new publication that I have been quietly working on with 14 wonderful photography friends. Pre-orders available via the link in my bio.

It offers a unique view of the creative process, incorporating research, conversations, projects and collaboration made during lockdown.

The book has been beautifully designed and conceived by Ben Weaver Studio using the Cohort image sequencing tool. Alongside the book, an interactive website allows views to engage with the research, create and save their own sequences and narratives.

With excerpts of WhatApp conversations between the photographers and original texts by @aaschuman and @dr_shawn_sobers each book comes with an inserted print by one of the COHORT photographers.

Cohort 2020-21 is the result of two years of image making, conversations and research between our group of 15 photographers.

This book, sequenced with the help of a purpose built algorithm, is a wending journey through images and WhatsApp conversations and snippets of research that explore the events of these bewildering and intense two years.

The website is also interactive and allows viewers to engage with research to form new sequences and narratives - so have a play with our work yourself at cohort.photography. Link in bio.
