Black Power leaders H. Rap Brown & Stokely Carmichael (Kwame Ture) sharing laughs and jokes together (wait until the end) 🫶🏽😊

Yesterday marked what would have been the 83rd birthday of H. Rap Brown, known as Imam Jamil Al-Amin.

We commemorate the life and legacy of Imam Jamil, who died in prison in November of last year after years of medical neglect by the system, including the neglect of a large tumor on his face that ultimately developed into Stage Four cancer.

Imam Jamil was wrongfully imprisoned for over 25 years after being targeted by the state for decades, first as a Black revolutionary during the Civil Rights era, and later as a Muslim leader and advocate for human rights.

We pray that Imam Jamil and his family receive justice, and for the freedom of all political prisoners.

Why was Macklemore dropped from Ed Sheeran's 2026 Loop Tour ten days after saying 'Free X' at MetLife Stadium?

Long before six stadium owners refused to host him, Ben Haggerty was a broke Seattle rapper whose dad paid for rehab in 2008 because his son wasn't happy. Four years later he self-financed The Heist, kept his own masters, and a $5,000 thrift-store video passed a billion views with no label money behind it.

He built independence into every choice he made, then used the biggest stage he could reach to say something that got him removed from it.

macklemore, macklemore story, macklemore nfl, macklemore gaza, macklemore loop tour, ryan lewis, thrift shop macklemore, the heist album, macklemore sobriety, macklemore independent label, macklemore rehab, mackelmore, macklmore, hip hop documentary, independent music success story.

Thank you to @the_founder_stories for creating this video.
