POSITIVE VIBRATION, YEAH! POSITIVE! How fortunate I feel to have known this incredible soul and to have been chosen to document some really important moments for him in the early 90s. Looking back with immense gratitude to the one and only Heavy D for my first opportunities. It’s been a helluva journey for the last 30 years, the stories will be told! 📷 @jonathanmannion #heavyd #dwightmyers #happybirthday #WaterBedHev #theoverweightloverheavyd #BeInspired #MOUNTVERNONSFINEST #legend

Exclusive interview at the Colosseum in White Plains, NY took place at the “Black Excellence Event” presented by Just Candi Entertainment, and footage and interviews by From Da Ground Up Productions with Ladi Miz and Ray.

We had the pleasure of honoring the late Heavy D, a hip hop pioneer from money earning Mount Vernon, known for his positive lyrics and energetic stage presence. Heavy D stayed true to his morals by refraining from using profanity in his music, respecting his parents’ and family’s values.

Let’s celebrate Heavy D’s legacy and his significant contributions to the genre.
