sooo should someone turn @whitehorsebar's building into a co-op?

the bar itself isn't going anywhere. the White Horse Inn has been pouring since 1933, making it one of the oldest gay bars in the country, and its lease runs through 2029. but its building on Telegraph just hit the market for $2.5M.

co-owner Patty Dingle says she's looking at lining up partners to buy the building together. kinda like when rent hikes threatened @studsf ten years ago, and community bought the business together, and it became the first worker-owned co-op nightclub in the U.S.

when queer institutions are only ever renting, a sale can mean the end of a essential gathering space. owning together (tenants, workers, regulars, neighbors) is how communities keep the places that hold our history.

soooo should this be you ? tag someone you think should know about this.... we'll start lol @ebprec @theselc @bayareaclt @oakclt et al...
