🚏Sunday is a good day to lace up the boots 🥾 and hit the road in the Garden Route!!!

We drove up the Outeniqua Pass to the little hamlet of Waboomskraal just off the N9. This region is famous for its apple orchards and hops.

We arrived @highlandslodge_mountainretreat with some time to hike the Owl Trail. This is a challenging ‘out-and-back’ hike with an elevation of 480 meters over a distance of 4km. You reach the summit at 1155 meters with views of the Hops Valley and the Swartberg Mountains.

We got back to Te-eeT in time to see Liaan taking the sourdough focaccia out of the oven for the Harvest Table lunch.

My kids voted the bread the “best in the world” and we enjoyed an endless spread of rich, slow roasted Wagyu Angus beef and a huge variety of salads.

Top tip: as the summer approaches get there early to take a dip in the stream or find the hidden swing in the valley. Bookings essential
