There are a lot of great training companies out there. There are a lot of talented instructors out there.

So why @achillesheeltactical?

Because I’ve learned that the environment you choose to put yourself in matters. Who you allow to influence your thinking matters. & most importantly, who people are matters more than what they can do.

AHT provides phenomenal training. Their understanding of performance, principles, diagnostics, and developing the individual rather than simply teaching a collection of techniques has fundamentally changed the way I approach my own training and instruction. The results are there.

But that’s only part of why my support for the team has been there.

After day 1 of my first 3 day course with the company @crawdad.actual gave me a list of talented instructors and groups I should seek training from. I’ve taken lots of non AHT trainings. I have 4 more of the kind set for the rest of the year. Because the path to excellence doesn’t exist inside of a bubble. And from that first convo, I knew that was understood here.

It’s about people who are incredibly capable without needing to constantly remind you of it. People willing to share knowledge without guarding it. People who can stand in front of a class as the subject matter expert and still possess enough humility to listen, learn, and evolve. Understanding and expressing that they aren’t perfect.

The right people don’t just give you answers. They challenge the way you think. They raise your expectations of yourself. And if you’re paying attention, the principles extend well beyond whatever brought you into the room in the first place.

That has been my experience with Achilles Heel Tactical. And the experience I have seen alongside others I have taken courses with, and those I have taught AHT curriculum to.

Good training is valuable.

Good training provided by good people, absent ego, who genuinely want to see others succeed?

That’s something worth supporting. No matter who it is you train with, be sure you’re getting the correct value out of it.

But that’s why Achilles Heel Tactical.

Seek training.

Another dope @shootwithaegis @pcs_league weekend. This was our biggest weekend yet with 122 shooters and a good number of LE competitors. Everyone had a great time and I got to jump in again today and shoot with every squad.

This stage was a close replica of one of the first PCSL stages I ever ran at GOAT last year. It’s still a good one @shootinblondie !

@deltamikememes owe you one

Having critical people in your life is a blessing.

You don’t know everything.

You don’t have it all figured out.

There are often other, and likely better, ways to do things.

Someone being critical of you isn’t them hating. Sometimes they just see something you don’t.

If you only surround yourself with people who agree with you, validate you, and tell you how great you’re doing, you’re eventually going to develop blind spots.

Invite criticism.

Ask people you trust where you’re falling short. Ask what you could have done better. Give people permission to tell you when you’re wrong.

And when they do, fight the urge to immediately defend yourself.

But listen….

That doesn’t mean every criticism is valid. Always consider the source. Consider the intent. Take what’s useful and leave what isn’t.

But don’t let your ego rob you of an opportunity to grow.

Some of the most valuable people in your life will be the ones willing to have uncomfortable conversations with you. The ones who care more about who you’re becoming than keeping you comfortable.

Surround yourself with people willing to sharpen you.

Then have enough humility to let them.
