It’s been 2 months since I quit a job of 13 years to do something the exact opposite. Here’s what I’ve learned:

-I have become more present when I’m home. Seeing my kids on the weekends and before bed has been absolutely worth it.
-I was strong, but gym strong. I’m using new muscles and learning new techniques that while I’m losing weight and getting less gym strong, I’m technically in better shape.
-I was spending too much money on temporary stress relief. It’s easier to save when you aren’t constantly feeling like you’re about to cave.
- it’s November and I don’t care. It’s been 13 years of November being a big deal. Suddenly it’s not.
- I don’t know how I went so long with the stress I had without breaking more than I did. Even my resting heart rate is gone down.
- Being customer facing shaped my identity in a good and neutral way. I learned patience, politeness, cultural differences, and how to be a nice person. I also cared about my looks a lot more. As you can see, I don’t have to do that anymore. I have decided not to trim my beard for a long time. I may even grow my hair.

Okay that’s it for now. Bye.
