@impala.soho is bringing vibrant flavours and a lively atmosphere to the buzzy streets of Soho, an already exciting neighbourhood. At the heart of the restaurant is a wonderful open-fire kitchen, where bold, smoky flavours meet high-quality ingredients. The menu takes inspiration from North Africa, particularly Egypt and Morocco, with a tempting mix of grilled meats, fresh seafood and vegetarian dishes. There were plenty of highlights on the menu, including the walnut pastilla, white crab kibbeh, white beans (dreamy!), ftira bread with hen’s egg, mackerel with pumpkin seed and the most incredible beef short rib. The beetroot salad was divine too, while the bird’s tongue pasta with oxtail (no actual birds involved!) was another standout. And for dessert? Just one option, but what an option: a date and pistachio tart, mastered to perfection. The interiors are just as considered as the food, with chic industrial touches, dark wood panelling, rich red velvet curtains and flickering candles creating a cosy, atmospheric setting. The staff were knowledgeable, friendly and full of great recommendations, adding to an already lovely experience. Overall, Impala offers something a little different, with an inspired menu full of bold flavours and genuinely interesting dishes. A real breath of fresh air in Soho, and one we’d happily return to! Book early to avoid disappointment, its a very hot ticket! #london #visitlondon #foodie #soho #hiddengem @cntraveler @thegaypassport @tripadvisor @passionpassport @voguemagazine @thisislondon @its_so_london @foodism @thetimes @guardian @prettylittlelondon @road.kill__ @prettycitylondon

• STICKS N SUSHI •

The @sticksnsushi.uk set menu options do nothing for my ability to make decisions but I recently tried their Set for Success menu, which may be my favourite yet 🍣

The food is incredibly fresh, of high quality, packed with delicate flavours and beautifully presented. It always feels like such a treat eating here (the Soho restaurant especially) and I always leave feeling very satisfied indeed ✨

It’s International Chefs Day, a moment to celebrate the brilliant people shaping our kitchens, and the perfect time to share more from our conversation with Sally Abé at TEAL.
Just three all-female brigades in @davidloftus’ 30 years of photographing restaurant kitchens. One of them is @littlechefsally’s…

A striking statistic that opens up a much bigger conversation about an industry still shaped by a long history of male-dominated kitchens. In this film, Sally reflects on the close-knit team she has built at @tealbysallyabe, the wider picture for women in hospitality, and the work still to be done if more women are to build lasting careers in the restaurant industry.

Their interview reaches beyond Sally’s own kitchen, too. The women-founded restaurant list she created with @kaylawrie from @topjaw began with 350 businesses and has now grown beyond 1,000, helping to make visible a much wider community of women working and building businesses across hospitality.

A club, perhaps, but not an exclusive one. As Sally puts it: “You want more and more people to join.”

20 years of 2 Veneti. One unchanged philosophy. And a visit that makes us incredibly proud!

When two of the most respected voices in British hospitality decide to visit your restaurant, it’s a moment worth celebrating!

A huge thank you to @jesse_burgess from @topjaw and @adambyatt Michelin-starred chef for visiting 2 Veneti and sharing our little corner of Veneto in Marylebone.

(And yes, Adam… we ARE in Marylebone! 😂)

For 20 years, we’ve stayed true to what we believe in: authentic Venetian cuisine, genuine hospitality, traditional recipes and, above all, the pleasure of bringing people together around a table.

No reinventing ourselves to follow trends. No changing our identity. Just the same passion, the same philosophy and the same love for what we do.

To be recognised and appreciated after all these years, especially by people who know and understand hospitality so well, means the world to us.

And the comments on YouTube? We’ve absolutely loved reading them! 😂 From Simon’s classic Italian style to the appreciation for our traditional dishes, you’ve made us smile.

Head over to TOPJAW’s YouTube channel to watch the full video and see what Adam thought of 2 Veneti!

As always…Magna e tasi, bevi e godi!🍷

I have decided to open my restaurant on Christmas Day to cook a festive feast for those in need or that don’t have somewhere to go. It’s open to everyone including parents and children in need and I will be covering the cost personally so there will be no charge. Spaces are limited to 25 so if you know someone that might like to join please get in touch! Back in 2022 I opened my restaurant in Norfolk The Gatherers to do the same and it was an incredibly rewarding experience, I’m delighted to have the means to offer this again at Petit Bistro Chevalet in Islington. I will serve a Christmas feast of roast meats and vegetables with all the trimmings at 3pm. Should locals wish to join the festivities afterwards I will open up the bar from 5pm to 10pm for drinks and festivities. Please spread the word for London locals that need somewhere to go! Email hello@chevalet.co.uk or dm to book yourself or someone else in!

Huge thanks to @topjaw for the love. Fantastic restaurant food, full stop, apparently. We’d say it’s gone to our heads, but the kitchen’s too busy. Hello to all our new followers, welcome to the pub. Book at www.theredlionandsun.com or call 020 8340 1780.

A little Sunday morning throwback with Jesse Burgess and Will Warr from @topjaw outside Terry’s Cafe!

From starting at Terry’s aged 14 to spending over 30 years in hospitality, there’s been plenty of stories along the way.

Those experiences inspired my book, Cafe Confidential, a behind-the-scenes look at family, food, London life and the realities of running a traditional British café.

Big thanks to Jesse and Will for championing independent restaurants and the people behind them.

Signed copies available at Terry’s Cafe, with worldwide shipping via the link in our bio.
