Its taken me a much longer decompression and reflection period from this last burn than it has the previous years. Before going into the burn this year, a girlfriend of mine asked if going to burning man had changed my life. I kind of scratched my head and thought…well I definitely never littered again after thats for sure. But as far as who I was as a person, i couldnt really say that i came out “changed”. This year’s burn made my last 2 look like an absolute walk in the fucking part. From endless daily dust storms, to extremelyy hot days, to sand pits and pot holes everywhere throughout the playa, to crashing 25mph into the trash fence perimeters and launching over my bike (yes, I actually flew OUT of bm) during a white out, to having a nice stomach ulcer visit, to receiving a lovely IV from the great volunteers of black rock city hospital, to tearfully asking the universe why the last year has been filled with so many hurdles and if life would ever go back to normal. Yet although what seemed like endless struggle after struggle, this was definitely my favorite burn ever. Because instead of partying, seeing art, reuniting with friends, and meeting some characters - this year was that and SO much more. I got to support 2 of my best girlfriends as they made their bm DJing debut, got to spend precious time with my brother cruising around and meeting each others friends, actually went to a seminar for the first time, got to be a part of a camp with a massive, influential art piece installation and had the opportunity of telling burners about the beauty and meaning behind the piece (thank you @projectaikido, @nazkimtara and @yasminebalafrej for having me be a part of such an incredible experience), and got to do so many cool activities that I never did in past years bc i couldn’t get myself to leave my comfort zone of separating from my friends so that i could do what i wanted to. Even if that meant losing them for hours or days. So although the curveballs and intensity seemed never ending, coming out a changed, stronger person and having learned so much about myself than i could have ever asked for was well worth all the hardship ❤️‍🔥 until next year )’(
