I’m back with another @ebonymagazine Beauty & Grooming Awards, and this year, I really leaned into what it means to test beauty in real life. I tapped our staff and even their kids to put hundreds of products through the kind of routines that actually matter. Not a one-time swipe or a quick try, but daily use, long days, early mornings, and everything in between.

And to kick it all off, I brought that same spirit to Brooklyn. For the 2026 Beauty and Grooming Awards kickoff, EBONY did what felt obvious and overdue. We took it back to where it all begins and dropped the salon right in the middle of Brooklyn. Not as nostalgia, but as infrastructure. A reminder that Black beauty has always been built in community, passed hand to hand, chair to chair. From the door, it felt like a function, with cocktails inspired by beauty rituals and a room that moved like a real salon floor, full of conversation, connection, and culture.

After months of testing, vetting, and rotating products through our routines, I can confidently say the 2026 EBONY Beauty & Grooming Awards spotlight the ones that actually deliver. Across skincare, haircare, makeup, fragrance, grooming, tools, kids, and clean beauty, every winner earned its place. The focus was simple: what truly works for melanin-rich skin and how we actually live. s/o to team @ebonymagazine

On this day in 2021, we wrapped up Sprite’s Who’s Got Next competition, where the winner hit the red carpet as EBONY’s next correspondent. With celeb judges like 💥Tanika Ray, 💥LisaRaye McCoy, and 💥Nixon Jr., it was a moment to remember.

I was leading the media strategy, taking content to millions online and gathering talent from across the country. Shoutout to winners Yonathan Elias and Jenn Rodriguez, who’ve over the years have interviewed some of the entertainment industry’s biggest stars!

Oh, and let’s not forget — we ALL got Media Training with @thereallraye1 herself!! Time to start flexing those red carpet skills again 💃🏽 ✨
