I got off work at 10 and was up cooking till 5 am, woke back up at 7 and continue to putting my heart in this.. I spent hours worrying if my food will be good enough, if I belong in the cooking world for real. Success comes in many forms small or large, this was a successful moment in my eyes. My first event and I can’t tell yall how grateful I am for everyone who popped out and shown love and appeared you my dawg for this moment @torre.hunter 💯💚 BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR ME WE TURNING THE CITY UP🤟🏾🤟🏾🤟🏾 photo creds @zaywayphotography @zaywayisthatyou

Ten years and counting.

In 2016 a small group of students joined our program, took the stage and shared their work. Since then, thousands of students across Houston and Galveston have benefited from our creative writing instruction and mentorship.

Some of our alumni are now mentors, board members, community leaders, and are giving back to the program that helped them.

Many of them will be part of our big performance event tomorrow night— celebrating the next generation of student poets. A few are pictured here. 👆

Join us tomorrow at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston for THEY SAY, ft. live poetry, DJ Bloom @jasmine.likeaflower and an art giveaway!

Maybe we didn’t get to see our author Brené Brown, but we got the next best thing which was pickleball lessons from her private coach!!!! Bobbie from Pickleball Country Club taught us how to PLAY LIKE BRENÉ! Honestly our pickleball party was such a unique and fun way to incorporate physical fitness into our book club! Lessons were awesome because most us didn’t know how to play this nuanced sport, and thanks to Bobbie, we were a little closer to pros by the end of the night. 🥒🏓

Knowledge is Power Book Club x @pickleballcountryclub

Coached by C.O.O Bobbie P.
