09/30 国庆｜TORTURING NURSE (live) | BURNING VEHICLES

One year anniversary of releasing the Alluvial Split with Torturing Nurse on CD-R. Here’s a review of it in Dutch by Bouke Mekel from Gonzo Circus. Check out the sounds here: https://thruoutin.bandcamp.com/album/thruoutin-torturing-nurse-alluvial-split-jw024

“Noise that permeates the very fabric of everyday life and society. Shanghai-based harsh noise artist Torturing Nurse and Beijing-based American experimental ambient and field recording artist thruoutin previously collaborated on ‘Tape Split’ (2014), a cassette release featuring distorted field recordings and track titles referencing ppt, xls, jpeg and pdf files. This time, on their CD-R release, their noise is harder and more intense.
Over the past ten years, social chaos and digitalisation have therefore intensified further. This four-track record serves up a hefty dose of unsettling unease: thruoutin’s abrasive noise landscapes evoke the sediment of rivers, accompanied on ‘Alluvial Escarpment’ by brief cries. Torturing Nurse’s more rhythmic noise tracks repeatedly break down, punctuated by occasional sharp, screeching feedback.
‘Alluvial Split’ is like a microphone scraping along the road, over all sorts of bumps and potholes, and eventually – after a journey of a good twenty minutes – coming to a halt, battered and distorted, with plenty of jolts and jolts.” #noise
