🅿️ Parking is limited and fills up quickly, so get there early (at least an hour before your ride) and pack your patience as Jim Thorpe is a *popular* fall destination.

Happy 50th Bday LHHT, you just get better with age! 🎉🥾

The Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail is a long-distance trail in Western PA, beloved by backpackers and day hikers alike. It was first hiked by an ambitious group of Boy Scouts and a chaperone in 1968. Then for 8 years, groups worked tirelessly to build shelters, clear paths, secure land rights, and paint the iconic yellow blazes. The trail officially was officially completed in 1976!

LHHT Essentials:
🥾 70 miles along the Laurel Mountain Ridge
🥾 From Ohiopyle to the Conemaugh Gorge
🥾8 shelter/tent camping areas (no dispersed camping!)
🥾Permits required for overnight stay
🥾Challenging trail with over 10,000 feet elevation gain (total)
🥾Rock features, wildflowers, stream crossings, overlooks

I put together this little guide for YOUR next girl’s getaway to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. [ @visit_hersheyharrisburg partner]

@torytalkstrails and I spent a weekend traipsing around the Pennsylvania State Capital, and it was such a perfect mix of adventure and girlie time.

Here’s where we stopped:
📍take a walking tour of Sprocket Mural Works: spread across Harrisburg, these murals make the perfect selfie spots!
📍Agape Elixir Bar: pop into Harrisburg’s first alcohol free social lounge
📍Kayak the Susquehanna River with Blue Mountain Outfitters
📍stop into The Millworks for food, drinks, and to browse the artist galleries…if you’re lucky you can catch some of them creating.
📍cross the street to hit up High Dive for the CUTEST insta-worthy cocktails
📍head to City Island to watch the Harrisburg Senators play some baseball
📍tour the Pennsylvania State Capitol Complex (seriously, it’s STUNNING)
📍Café Fresco for some Asian fusion bites and deliciously crafted cocktails
📍take a beautiful morning hike at Wildwood Park

Raystown Leisure Boating is owned by Randy Fox, a state-approved licensed guide who offers private boating trips on Raystown Lake, the largest lake entirely in Pennsylvania. Randy does all the driving… all you have to do is show up and enjoy the lake.

Want to go tubing? Just tell him and he’ll bring one. Want to pack a cooler with your favorite drinks and snacks? Go for it. Want to spend a few hours floating around and soaking up the sun? That’s actually the WHOLE point.

It’s such an easy way to get out on the lake without having to own a boat or know anyone who does.
