The beauty of the OAP Show is finding and sharing interesting stories whether it be from football, music or fashion - or even Stevie Windows trips to Bromley!! In this case and whilst researching for this weeks show we discovered an interesting story about the cover of the Stone Roses single cover for the brilliant ‘One Love’ which is part of this weeks ‘Ronaldo feature.

Now - the story goes that John Squire’s artwork had evolved away from the Pollock paint sprawls that we know and love in the earlier singles, and the cover for One Love was influenced by both the Castrol oil can, and the mascot for the Italia 90 World Cup. Take a look at it in the first image above. But Squire noticed that there was the suggestion of a swastika in the design – a major embarrassment for a band proud of their left-wing politics. So - Squire pulled the cover and destroyed the proofs of the artwork, using the torn scraps to produce an alternative front cover which is what you see in image 2. Did you know that?

Join Stevie, Al and Indie live on the Owl and Peacock Show every Saturday on @boogalooradio between 2 and 4pm. ✌️ ⚽️ 🎶

Our new single “Can You Hear Me” documents the moment our vocalist @j.fender.city suffered a heart attack on a flight from the USA to UK, and the following admission into A&E for surgery 🩸
