📚🍕🥂 Pages, Pizza & Prosecco — an evening of books, connection, and powerful stories.

A couple weeks back, I had the pleasure of attending Pages, Pizza and Prosecco, hosted by @touchingtalesink . The night featured The Midnight Library by Matt Haig and an incredibly inspiring guest speaker, @irina_jacobson_

The Midnight Library invites us to reflect on the paths we take, the choices we make, and the countless possibilities that exist within a single life. Hearing Irina’s story added an even deeper layer to those themes. As an amputee, her journey is a beautiful reminder of resilience, perspective, and the strength it takes to embrace life — even when it doesn’t look the way we imagined.

An evening filled with thoughtful conversation, meaningful connections, delicious pizza, a little prosecco, and plenty to reflect on. ❤️ We were reminded to pause, appreciate where we are, and be open to where life might take us next.

What a beautiful evening. 🥂📚🍕

I was invited as a guest speaker to the very first Pages, Pizza & Prosecco, created by @helloitsharpreet from @touchingtalesink, to share my personal story and talk about the choices we make when life doesn’t go as planned.

And somehow, the book chosen for the evening was The Midnight Library, a book that ended up connecting with my own story in ways I never expected.

I read it in four days before the event, and so many moments made me stop and think about my own life, my own “what ifs,” and all the years I spent wondering how different my life might have been.

But beyond the book, I loved the idea behind this evening: people who mostly didn’t know each other coming together, sharing perspectives, having meaningful conversations, laughing, eating pizza and drinking prosecco. ❤️

Thank you, Harpreet, for inviting me and trusting me to share my story at your very first event. It was truly an honor to be part of it.

Where does an illustrator find inspiration? 🎨📚

For our illustrator, Marco, inspiration often starts away from his desk. From bookstores and libraries to magazines, cookbooks, and design books, inspiration can come from anywhere.

Staying curious and exploring different creative worlds helps bring new ideas and techniques to our stories. ✨

POV: you marry a man who fully supports your book obsession… and then wears matching “Book Lover” hats with you on vacation 🤭📚☀️

Huge thank you to @touchingtalesink
for gifting us these hats because I am obsessed with them! 🩷

Mr. Book Lover spent the mornings in super dad mode playing in the water with the kids before going back to the room and taking a nap with all 3 of them while I sneaked in some uninterrupted reading time 😌📖

Currently glued to The Shippers by @katherinecenter and WOW… this one is already a solid 5⭐ read for me. Funny, swoony, emotional perfection.

Vacation mode = activated 🌴🍹✨

We’re so grateful to have Marco as the illustrator behind the Daya Discovers series. 🩵

Here’s a little look at how Daya and Kabir first came to life…

It all started with sketching their proportions. Marco chose to draw them slightly older to give them a bit more movement and flexibility, especially for moments like walking or reaching for things.

From there, he studied reference photos closely to understand the small details that make them recognizable. Their face shapes, cheeks, ears, and all the little features that make them them.

As the illustrations began to take shape, details were added and refined.

Next came exploring different colour palettes to find what felt right for their world and environment.

And finally, everything came together in the fully coloured versions you see in the book.

It’s such a thoughtful and beautiful process, and so special to watch these characters grow from simple sketches into the world of Daya Discovers. ✨

7km run done and it felt SO good to be back outside 🙌🏃‍♀️✨

This run absolutely flew by thanks to my ALC of Set Point by Meg Jones 🎧 (review coming soon 👀). Nothing like a good audiobook to make the kilometers disappear!

Also had to rep my “Book Lover” hat from @touchingtalesink (still obsessed 😍 thank you again for the beautiful gift!).

Warmer weather + outdoor runs + a great story in my ears = my kind of happy 🩷
