Battle of Britain 85th Anniversary Group Build – Results!

Judging this group build was no easy task with so many incredible builds coming together to honor this historic anniversary. A huge thank you to everyone who participated!

🥇 1st Place – @flugzeugschmiede76
🥈 2nd Place – @tourdeairfix
🥉 3rd Place – @ronan_chavlehr

Congratulations to our winners!

Whether your build was finished or still in progress, the real victory is how this group build brought the scale modeling community together while commemorating the courage, sacrifice, and service shown during the Battle of Britain.

I’d still love to see those builds that didn’t quite make the deadline so feel free to send them to me and I can make a post with them all on.

It’s been a pleasure to host and to meet some really nice people on Instagram, all be it virtually! Some really nice emails too!

I look forward to hosting another group build in 2026!

Cheers again!

Been a good weekend. Argyle beat Norwich to keep survival hopes alive and I showed some of the kits I have built at the Yeovil Model Show as part of @seaton_scale_modellers. Never done a show before and was surprised to see people taking pics of my kits (probs to avoid making the same mistakes as I have!🤣) but the highlight was a long chat with Al Buttle, a Brit, who served with the Australian Air Force and flew 14 combat missions as a standby door gunner on Huey’s in Vietnam. He has even got a piece of his safety harness that has an AK47 round that came through the cab embedded in it!

Had a couple of hours visiting @historichelicopters nr Chard looking around their collection of airworthy Sea Kings, Wessex and the Lynx. One of the volunteers, Charlie, gave us the full tour and we were allowed to climb all over them!! The techies are a mix of ex Mil/Civvy so the banter was good! Well worth a visit if you are in the area but book first. #historichelicopters #seaking #seakinghelicopter #lynxhelicopter

Started building kits again during Covid after a 30 yr sabbatical! Created a little FB group with @tourdeairfix and today we have put a small display of our builds in our local art shop @devonartsupplies as part of their programme to showcase the wide range of local creative groups. Hopefully might inspire others to get involved! @officialairfix @revellofficial

What another great window display at Seaton’s Devon Art Supplies & Betty’s Books 😃

John Nichol’s Spitfire book is excellent, I have Tornado lined up for later 📚. Not read the Hurricane one … will have to check it out. Naturally the @officialairfix kits are awesome.

Amazingly 22,000 Spitfires we’re built …. I’ve still a little way to go with my Spitfire scale model builds, but I’m working on it 🤣
