There’s something emotional about stepping away from a career that became part of your identity.

For years, news shaped my life in ways I never expected. The early alarms, the storms, the breaking news, the pressure, the adrenaline, the long nights, the laughter, the community.

And most importantly… all of you.

Being welcomed into your homes and trusted during important moments has been one of the greatest honors of my life. I don’t think I’ll ever fully have the words for what that means to me.

This chapter gave me experiences I once only dreamed about. It challenged me, stretched me, humbled me, and helped me grow into the person I am today.

Leaving television news is incredibly bittersweet because I loved it deeply.

But I’m also learning that purpose can evolve.

While I’m beginning a new chapter with Kimley-Horn focused on community impact and positive change in a different way… this isn’t goodbye to weather or to this community.

I still plan to forecast, stay connected, and continue sharing life and weather with all of you here. That part of me isn’t going away 🤍

I’m excited. I’m anxious. I’m grateful. Probably all at once.

Thank you for every conversation, every storm tracked together, every message, and every bit of kindness you’ve shown me along the way.

I’ll carry this chapter with me forever.

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — The First Responders Appreciation Foundation hosted its LEO Awards on Thursday, May 22.
WPTV Anchor Shannon Cake served as master of ceremonies for the annual recognition of the men and women of law enforcement throughout Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast.

This year, 274 nominations were received from 18 agencies in Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie and Indian Rivera counties.

The awards luncheon is the second largest in the country behind New York City.
