More than a grocery store. A community making a difference 💚🌎

Today, we’re showing some love to one of our amazing retail partners, @tpsscoop, in Takoma Park, Maryland! 🫶

TPSS Co-op isn’t your average grocery store. They’re a community-owned business that genuinely cares about people, local businesses, and the planet.

🌱 Supporting local: Partnering with nearly 200 local farmers, makers, and small businesses, giving brands like ours an opportunity to grow.

♻️ Reducing waste: Donating thousands of pounds of food to local nonprofits, composting produce waste, encouraging reusable bags, and keeping food out of landfills.

❤️ Giving back: Supporting local nonprofits, fighting food insecurity, and helping families access fresh, nutritious food.

🏡 Keeping it local: Investing in the people, businesses, and organizations that make their community stronger.

As a small business ourselves, we know firsthand how much it means when a store believes in you and gives you a chance.

We’re incredibly grateful to be part of the TPSS community and proud to support a store that shares our belief that business should be about more than just making a profit.

Did you know you can actually OWN a piece of the businesses you shop at?

At a normal company, most of the money gets siphoned straight to the top where executives and shareholders hang out. But there is an alternative model: cooperatives. At co-ops, the people who work or shop there are the owners.

So here are a few co-ops you can shop at instead of big box stores that don’t care about our democracy or humanity: 🏕️ Instead of getting your outdoor gear at Amazon or Home Depot, try @rei , a consumer co-op. 🏦 Instead of using a big banking chain like Chase, try a local Credit Union. 🥛 Instead of buying Nestle or Fairlife milk at the grocery store, try @organicvalley It’s a farmer-owned collective where the farmers actually have a say and help set the prices. 💻 Instead of using Google or Microsoft Suite for emails, web hosting, virtual meetings, etc., try The May First Tech Movement. It’s a technology co-op offering alternative tech infrastructure for folks who don’t want to be constantly spied on by Big Tech. 🚕 And if you’re in NYC, instead of Uber or Lyft try @thedriverscoop It’s a driver-owned ride service that isn’t being strip-mined by VCs for profit.
This isn’t anti-business or anti-tech. It’s pro-human.
