![My Gallatin Story: Jake Gainey (BA ’24)
Pronouns: he/him
Concentration: Architectural History
💜 After you've made it through your first year at Gallatin, how do you feel now about your decision to transfer here?
Transferring has been one of my most rewarding decisions. It has helped me to become more confident in my ability to take initiative and trust my instincts, and I've had nothing short of a fantastic experience at Gallatin.
💜 One advice you'd give to a fellow transfer student on their first year
As is the case with any college experience, it takes time to find and build friendships. Don't worry if your core friends aren't found within your first few classes or your first semester. I met some amazing people starting off at Gallatin, but I didn't meet any of my current friends until my second and third semester
💜 Three things you're most looking forward to this academic year
✨Studying abroad in Florence for the Fall semester — I'm excited to explore the city and NYU's hillside campus, see some incredible art and architecture, and learn a new language (Italian).
✨Winter in New York — There's nothing cozier than a nighttime study session in Bobst Library listening to jazz while the snow falls outside. Easily some of my favorite memories at Gallatin so far.
✨Graduation — Not every student can say their commencement ceremony was held at Yankee Stadium. I'm excited to celebrate alongside family, friends and the Gallatin community!
