🧡⚽️ Truly a pinch me moment!

Walking in the Oranje March, jumping from links naar rechts at every opportunity, and attending the match at the Arrowhead Stadium. Kansas City turned orange for the day! And the best word to summarize all of this: GENIETEN! 🧡

Thank you @jwilinkc and the team at @visitkc, for making me feel like a VIP! Never going to forget this!

If you know me, you know I’ve never been much of a “birthday person.” But something shifted for me in the past 5 years, realizing how precious gathering really is. I realized I wanted to get better at celebrating my people, and even more challenging myself. So this year, turning 30 felt like the time to do so—because, well, life is precious and fragile and short and worth celebrating and buying the flowers.

Prom was always a big deal for me. Way back when, I was quietly wrestling with some pretty large mental health challenges, and getting to go to prom felt like a turning point, that I could keep going. That’s why this party meant so much: it’s a testament to making it through my twenties, and a reminder that I can always overcome.

To all my friends and family who showed up, thank you for dancing, drinking palomas, listening to my favorite songs, and for letting me have my Pretty in Pink moment. @estherwalkeryoung, @tlmalexander44, @victoria_lynne_emmons, and @realjavierluna. I couldn’t have done this without your help, and I wouldn’t have wanted to. And those who couldn’t be there, but have been cheering me on from afar all through this decade, your love and means everything to me.

Here’s to another 30. No model, just making it up as I go—here on this bridge between starshine and clay, holding tight to myself and to all of you.
