Can you see it? Not everything in the jungle wants to be seen, and at the entrance to the @spymuseum's new "Camouflage: Designed to Deceive" exhibition, that’s exactly the point. Animals vanish into the vines, stripes melting into shadow, spots dissolving into dappled light, scales mimicking bark and leaf. It’s not an accident. It’s design built for discovery. When the Spy Museum called us to develop an interactive game highlighting two fantastic murals designed by DC artist @tracieching, we leapt at the chance! 19 critters were hidden in each mural, and NeoPangea developed an interactive mobile experience helping visitors seek and find those hidden animals, while preserving the integrity of the installed murals. Our partner understood that by infusing their entrance with intrigue and curiosity, visitors are treated to a taste of what lies behind the entrance gate. We helped bring that vision to life through design and development of the experience that can be accessed quickly via QR code, and that which a visitor can continue to play and explore on the website after their visit. This project juggled a tight development timeline. And we led development in lockstep with gamification engineering, building a web-based experience where the mechanics disappear and the story takes over. When everything works the way it should, visitors get lost in the world, in the narrative, in the feeling the design creates. And that’s exactly the kind of experience you don't want hidden!
