Can’t believe I’m chopped and I have rabies and I’m playing the completely sold out @bluciferfest with the full band of Designated Strangers on Sunday July 26🐴 and then literally 2 days later I will be reading and talking about even more music at @track_changes_series in Philadelphia at Solar Myth 🍨🌞 come see me? Us? Yes? It’s hard for me to see the point of putting stuff like this up anymore because I am the kind of person who gets throttled in a way a human rights organization calls “a violation” and I don’t know if posting is a human right, but I do know that this music festival has been all consuming and a reckoning force and I hope it really does something or changes anything because it feels like nothing will and we will stumble through the heat and smoke forever with no rain or relief without it. It’s been the biggest thing I’ve maybe ever done but by total accident and serendipity, which is how those things always happen. In between it all I made jam and got scratched by a bat and got filled with syringes of globulin and the summer whirred by like an air conditioner and the time felt flat and placeless because we no longer have seasons and I think something really important is going to happen next week which I am struggling to wrap my small and human head around the implications of but hopefully it will help all of us get what we want at least here, at least now.

My second novel, Ultranatural, is out today from the University of Iowa Press. This is a book about Britney, kinda, but really it’s a book about the forces in life that take you away from yourself and the forces that can deliver you back. Thank you so much to @uiowapress & @meredithwadkinsstabel & everyone who was with me through the VERY long process of writing this— @rachelamilligan @patrickjamesreed @madison_kramer18 @sicklypink @sarahlynwrites @emily_dubord9 @dlgould 1. Reading at Prairie Lights last night. 2. Thanks to Rachel 3. Thanks to Veronica 4. Thanks to @littlevillagemag for the amazing review! 5. I absolutely love what @the_eleanor_stern said about the book on Substack 6. Here’s a piece I wrote for CrimeReads analyzing Britney and the conservatorship as a modern gothic text 7. And here are my tour dates!
