If you cycle you know. I’ve ridden this loop four times now, since July 16th. Last night I took Rock Creek hill with the determination that I won’t stop or shift out of what I went in with. I ended up with a PR and took 1 min and 3 seconds off my time from my very first ride, time was 1min 27sec. That put me in the top 53% of women and behind QOM by 26 seconds. Maybe in a year or less, because I have grit, I’ll see a crown next to my head on this climb, because seeing new PR each time is pretty empowering.

If you’ve been thinking about buying a bike, just do it.
Seriously a bike is obviously a great way to get some exercise and get outside, but I think one of the best parts of cycling is the people you meet.

You start riding, find a group, maybe show up to a coffee ride or grab a beer after, and before you know it you’ve made a whole group of friends you probably wouldn’t have met otherwise.

And you don’t have to be fast. You don’t have to know what you’re doing. You definitely don’t need a $10,000 bike. Just get a bike and start riding. The fitness will come. The miles will come. And hopefully, you’ll find some good people to ride them with.If you’ve been thinking about it, you should Go buy the bike.

Tribute to Major Taylor on the Cherry Creek Path in Denver, CO 🙌
“I pray they will carry on in spite of that dreadful monster prejudice, and with patience, courage, fortitude and perseverance achieve success for themselves.” - Major Taylor

What a wonderful tribute to honor and remember American bicycle racer, Marshall “Major”Taylor (1878-1932) Taylor was the world’s first black sports superstar. He was world cycling champion in 1899, American sprint champion in 1900, and set numerous track cycling records.

Nicknamed Major in his youth in Indianapolis and later known as the Worcester Whirlwind after his adopted hometown in Massachusetts, he was the second African-American world champion in any sport (after Canadian-born bantamweight boxer George Dixon of Boston won his title in 1891).

In the Jim Crow era of strict racial segregation, Taylor had to fight prejudice just to get on starting line. He faced closed doors and open hostility with remarkable dignity. - Major Taylor Association

Logged another PR this week while literally missing my top gear for each achievement. 💀 If you’re beating me right now, enjoy it while it lasts, once this shifting gets fixed, it’s over for everyone on Wednesdays. Who’s coming out at 6:30?

Every student earns a bike. But we don’t stop there. 🙌
The Bike Club OKC Family Bike Giveaway — because we believe the whole family deserves to ride.

Throughout the year, we collect gently used bikes, fix them up, and offer them completely free to our families. And here’s the best part: our students become the teachers — sharing the STEM skills they’ve built all year long to help their families get rolling.
This is what community looks like. 🧰🚲
We’re not just building cyclists. We’re building a cycling city.

They say things get better with age — and after eight years, we have the proof. 🎉
Bike Club OKC celebrated its 8th graduation, and we mean it when we say: this was our best group of students yet. Not just because of how far they rode or how much they grew — but because of who they showed up as every single day. Kind. Respectful. Determined. Strong. They solved problems, leaned on each other, communicated, and when the road got hard… they kept going anyway.
To say we are proud would be a serious understatement.
We’ve said it before - 30% of these students have never been on a bike before September 2025. Same statistic this year, 100% confident riders! That’s not just the statistic, that is a TRANSFORMATION !
Cheers to the Class of Graduation #8 — we cannot wait to watch what you do next. And cheers to Year #9 — something tells us the best is always still ahead. 💛🩵

There’s a lot that happens before the first pedal stroke.
Helmets get checked. Bikes get adjusted. Paperwork gets sorted, water bottles get filled, and a dozen small details get handled by people who never ask for credit — they just show up.

Our volunteers are the reason Bike Club OKC runs the way it does. They’re the quiet engine behind every big moment our students experience on two wheels.
If it appears to be a well-oiled machine, it’s because we have the very best volunteers. Full stop. 💛🩵
Thank you for everything you give to these kids. We don’t take a single one of you for granted.
