In case we don't know each other yet, let me introduce myself 🙋‍♂️

Life has taken many unexpected twists and turns over the years which has brought me here, to a place where I can show up in alignment with my true values.

This is a bit of my story, and explains the 'why' behind choosing to use my strengths and passions to support others in achieving their dreams and goals, to lead the @trail.leopards community, and to work with people who inspire me 🙏

Trail Leopards in Cape Town started on day one with 120 runners and a founder with one goal: bring the mountains to everyone. Kai built the crew in the weeks after a personal heartbreak, driven by a simple belief that the mountains belong to everyone.

The numbers show what's happened since. Over 35 volunteer guides lead four pace groups every Thursday on trails around Hout Bay, with a sweep guide making sure nobody gets left behind. Members range from two years old to 81. Trail Leopards is free to join. Each Thursday takes a different route across Chapman's Peak and beyond, rotating nearly a dozen starting points so regular runners don't repeat the same ground for months. Tuesdays bring the Bakery Run at South Yeaster at 06:30, a road session that ends with coffee and croissant.

By summer, up to half the runners in any session can be visitors from overseas, turning a local project into a cross-cultural gathering point on the mountainside.

Here are five of our favourite exercises to challenge and strengthen the ankles, from ankle mobility and stability, to control and plyometric power.

These exercises are great functional progressions from the classic calf raises and resistance-band exercises, helping you challenge the ankle in different ways and prepare it for the demands of everyday movement and sport.

Try adding a few of these to your next lower-body session and spice up your ankle strengthening routine!

I saw these guys running in the rain. I had no idea they were running in memory of Elizabeth from Kempton Park, who was murdered. Hearing why they were out there really touched my heart. 🤍

To Elizabeth’s family and everyone who loved her: I’m so sorry she was taken from you like this. I wish I could give you each a proper hug. I know a post can’t take away the pain of missing her, but I hope this reaches you with all the love it’s meant with.

Your Elizabeth is being remembered here in Cape Town, too. These guys were running for her, and after hearing her story, I wanted to send some love to the people waiting at home who wish she could walk through the door again. 🤍

To the guys running in her memory — much love and respect for what you were doing. Thank you for letting me hear about Elizabeth.

Saw some really nice boulders on the Mystery Adventure run with the @trail.leopards 🐆 Not all went as planned due to safety concerns, but the bundu bashing was good fun. We made sure not to disturb the fairies 🧚✨

Had the most lekker time joining @ben_bing out in the sun for some of his @13_peaks effort this past Saturday ⛰️

Chapman's Peak is hands down my favourite spot to run in the world - between the combination of technical & runnable sections, impeccable views over the valley and sea, and bits and pieces of our history to offer a glimpse into the past, Chappies has it all 🫶
