I am now a graduate of Goucher College and a Master of Arts in Cultural Sustainability. Mostly. I still have to do some revisions. Some of you owe me paperwork. This has got me musing on this time ten years ago, as I was graduating high school and entering college. I was a scared and lonely child, unsure of the world around me. I still mostly am. If I have ever been anything else, it is because of the unpredictable intervention of people smarter, braver, and more exciting than me. Most of them played this strange, swirling rock music in dirty basements and tiny venues, which I loved so much that I have dedicated most of the last decade to it. On Thursday, July 2nd, many of those bands I loved are uniting for a benefit show to help raise money for our friend Victor's family as his mother undergoes treatment for blood cancer. It is a miracle that so many of the people who inspired me can be there for him. So don't think this degree or whatever is some big achievement -- it is yet another gift from my neighbors. We have another show on Saturday, May 30th for the Pittsburgh Melanoma Foundation. Until then, I'm on vacation.
