2026.07: 7 Days alone in the Sierra Nevada
North Lake to South Lake Loop (via Lamarck Col)

Day 6-7: Dusy Basin
Hiked about 10 miles this day. Everyone told me how pretty this basin was, so I spent an extra night here. Dusy Basin is quite large and sits roughly 10,800 feet to 12,000 feet elevation. The upper basin has rocky alpine tarns, while the lower basin has marshy creeks. I only saw a few people passing through, and had most of the area to myself.

Day 7: Middle Fork Kings River
I bumped into someone I met the day before, and we spent the day hiking together. Annie and I split once we reached the Le Conte Ranger Station. I think she was headed towards Palisades Glacier and I was off to Dusy Basin.

I wrote a piece for @trailsmag about my experience on the 1,000km @michinokucoastaltrail in Japan. I have so much more to say (what’s new) but for now, here’s a peek at some of the words and images from the article ft. visual moments that didn’t make the cut.

(This piece is in the current quarterly edition of the mag, alongside incredible contributions from other writers. It’s also print-only. Something you can actually hold??)

A lone rider crossing the open range beneath the Tetons. Late summer in Wyoming, where the grasses have begun to turn gold and the mountains rise sharply above the valley.

Medium format film from my time in the Tetons

Autumn sneaking into the Tetons. The fields turning gold, evenings getting colder, and somehow it still feels like the old West out here.
