We're bringing some of the gang back to Byker, this Friday 25th October at @theoldcoalyard

Lower Slaughter have thankfully returned after an extended hiatus; they've released a new EP with @humanworthmusic and are currently on tour - hitting Leeds @wharfchamberscc , Sheffield @hatch_sheffield and Toon this week - we're buzzing.

Flo Perlin / Melanie Baker

Flo Perlin writes amazing songs and hails from London.
Melanie Baker writes amazing songs and hails from Cumbria.
Last night to a packed 3 Tanners Bank in North Shields these two incredible forces of musical nature played their heart felt songs of love and belonging and brought all our worlds together in one place.
Listening to Melanie’s songs stripped back to the bare bones you begin to hear and see the vulnerability, craft , humour, intelligence and basic brilliance of her songwriting.
Watch out for Melanie playing live near you soon. She’s just about to head out on tour with @maximoparkofficial
This was a rare night for music and songwriting and it was moving through the gears at some pace , in a contemporary folk kind of way.
Flo Perlin is in the middle of a UK tour having played all over Europe supporting the @thebygonesband and now she is promoting her latest LP Clay.
Every sound she made was carved in the songwriters shed to perfection, honed and curated.
I loved the songs “Baghdad “ and “mother Tongue “ which spoke of heritage and the past but were definitely looking to the future.
And it is to the future we should look with Flo and Melanie.
These are the musicians we want to see succeed and flourish.
Promoted by the fantastic @shingigs and sound by the wonderful @mikekidmgmt
Support local and as often as you, it is appreciated.

The Weather Station and Lutalo were excellent. It was great to meet the artists but I never told Tamara we were twins - only separated by 49 years and the fact I can't sing.
